So this lame band (I'm sorry if this offends anyone) has more dates on tour than Insomnium and Symphony X? Hell, when they supported Sonata a couple of years ago and bored the shit out of me on the Belgrade gig, I believe that Sonata tour had less dates than this.
At least one thing doesn't change - Belgrade dates are a rarity, no matter how extensive the tours are. |

I enjoyed the Delain part of the concert...more than I did on some more prestigious bands. Have in mind that the band originally wasn't supposed to do any live shows + the singer is inexperienced, both of which did show on the gig.
I can only agree on the later part, Belgrade gets skipped more often than not (of recent/upcoming tours, Epica, Ensiferum, Nighwish come to mind), which is a sad truth...  |

Compared to After Forever, every female fronted symphonic metal band is weak  But I have to agree that Delain aren't that good. They're good enough, but that's it. Maybe this new album will take them to greater heights. I doubt it, but here's hoping. There are many superior bands out there that don't have nearly as many fans: Hydria, Kerion, Dreams Of Sanity, Visions Of Atlantis, Legenda Aurea, Todesbonden, Lunatica - take your pick. |

Well if they weren't ready to do it, they shouldn't have done it really. And their albums never stroke a chord within me, the songs with Marco Hietala did sound mildly interesting, but then again, so is everything featuring him  I guess this falls under the "personal taste" tag, so I apologized in my first post.
Then again, even if more bands hit Belgrade, I wouldn't have the money to go. And bad luck always strikes me. For the Pain Of Salvation gig, I was ill to the point I could barely drag myself out of bed; and Iced Earth was missed due to exams. |

Ahh, one of the more insightful threads on MS about bands with female vocalists, I see... Even though I think Delain is a bit too polished/mainstream at times, their last album is excellent to me, and Charlotte's vocals in 2009's Metal Female Voices Festival were superb! I didn't think she would have had such a great live voice, proving yet again that very few venues seem to understand how to set up sound for metal bands with her type of vocals.
And I find it quite insulting to think that the only reason I would listen to the band is because Charlotte's looks are important to me, as part of their male audience. Who cares if the band hasn't done any promo shots since the 2009 April Rain session, yet their vocalist took a couple of shots and now they appear on the band's page. Plently of my female friends simply love their picture taken (much more than the guys) - and in the interim before the next promo sessions with the now current members, why not post them? I honestly have no idea where the band stands on the marketing side without asking them directly, but honestly it's unimportant. As a fan of the band (especially their 2009 disc), really any pro pictures are going to be cool to see to me, but in the end it's the music I want, up-to-date pics or not. |

A stereotype is merely a generalization. Obviously you're not included in that stereotype, especially since you defend just about every female-fronted band in existence.

Maybe Delain want to emulate Gamma Ray and have a different lineup on all of their first 5 albums. Or Wessels and Westerholt are a pair of dicks who no-one wants to work with for very long.(hey, a bit like Mustaine then.) |
