Guitarist-turned-bassist Youri Raymond of Canadian metallers Cryptopsy has issued the following statement on the band's MySpace page:

"I am officially announcing my departure of the band Cryptopsy. At this time, we feel it's in the best interest of both the band and I to part ways. As a musician, moving from guitar to bass was a great challenge, but honestly, I never really felt comfortable in that position and my motivation in general was stagnating.

I'm now moving forward and will release an album in 2012 on guitar/lead vocals with my band Unhuman and I hope Jon, Matt, Chris Flo and the new guy who will fill in in the bass spot the very best with the upcoming album and what might be the "real" Cryptopsy coming back! Thanks again fans and friends for your endless support!"

I'd have quit too. Terrible what's happened to them.
JD - 10.12.2011 at 00:28
Okay, I can live with that.

Hey, has anyone seen my hope of Cryptopsy being good again? I think I dropped it the instant I read this.

Don't worry dude, even though the "original" lineup will never return, 3/4 of the creative force are still on it, and I don't think we're in for a disappointment!

3/4 of the line-up is responsible for producing shit.

I spoke with the guys from Cryptopsy, and I think you guys are going to be (happily) surprised by the new Cryptopsy!

Did they tell you it was going to be their most brutal release yet?

-_-

That comment transpires of enthusiasm.

It should reek of skepticism.

It was already becoming difficult to like this band but when Eric Langois left I was just about finished. If he would come back and LORD WORM and somebody wrote some nasty ass D metal, I would be pleased.
