Riverside - Start Working On New Album

After two and a half years from the release of their last full-length album Anno Domini High Definition, Polish proggers Riverside have started working on their new album.

Mariusz Duda (vocals, bass) commented: "I think that it's high time for some new sounds, and I really mean new. Last year's EP didn't explore any new musical paths, it was a sort of a link to our beginnings. We have enclosed that period with this frame. And it's high time we went on a different path which would neither be the musical continuation of the above mentioned EP, nor even of ADHD. What will come out of this ? we shall see. For now, what we compose is really open, there are a lot of great melodies, the acoustic guitar is back, and the metal riffs evolved into more rock riffs. If we don't screw it up on the way, it's going to be a really powerful and mature album, one of the best we've recorded, if not the best."

The new album is expected to be released late this year or in early 2013 through Century Media/Inside Out worldwide and by Mystic Production in Poland. The band has recently renewed their contracts with the two labels for the next two releases.

Progeeks rejoice, I am

Not sure what to think about the "metal riff being replaced by more rock riffs", but just hoping it's Riverside, which means good.

Yeah, I was also a bit taken aback by this "metal riffs replaced by rock riffs," but I have faith in Riverside. But there will be no ADHD part II, which I would love

Somehow I associate that particular statement to their first 2 albums. Either way, rock or metal doesn't matter, It's Riverside and so far they never let us down.

But the probability of ADHD part II was very low, you have to admit Or were you thinking along the lines of what they did on the first 3 albums in terms of concept?

At this point, I'll try not to think too much about it, but we might be surprised by this new Riverside.

Rock riffs? Don't tell me they are going all 70's prog rock also
Pain Of Salvation started it and now everyone is following.

Well I guess whatever they do, it's good that they go for a change. The last year's EP, as Mariusz said, was more of a step backwards and I couldn't take any of it.
I hope I will be comfortable with this change

I just know this will be good. Riverside has yet to dissapoint. Retro-70´s prog would hardly fit with Riverside's style, though I don't reckon they will take that path.

I don't know, they always had heavy riffs from the start. I really don't care what they do as long as it's "Riverside" and it sounds well to my ears.
