Omnium Gatherum - Part Ways With Bassist

Finnish melodic death metallers Omnium Gatherum have announced that they have parted ways with bassist Toni Mäki. The band released this statement: "OG have decided to go separate ways with our bass player of the last three years, Toni Mäki. The decision was made already some time ago after our latest European tour Neckbreaker's Ball and it wasn't an easy one."

"Some of you might have noticed that the old OG Redshifter bass master Eerik Purdon has been already playing a few gigs with us during the past months. Eerik is filling the now vacant low-frequency spot and is helping us out on the upcoming gigs, rehearsals and recordings - thanks dude!"

"The real thing is that the bass player spot is now vacant. So, if you have what it takes, feel free to contact us (ogatherum@gmail.com) and manifest that you're the best man for the OG low-frequency department and the meanest dude for the meanest machine! ... And we'll see where it goes. Btw. the new album stuff is almost composed and ready, so soon it's studio time again!"

I thought they had a bunch of material written already? Might be mixing them up with some other band though.

Oh right, Mors Principium Est. My bad.

Writing albums quickly isn't that big of a problem if musicians are inspired, as we've witnessed with certain fellow Finns I wonder if other members have contributed in addition to Vanhala this time around...

Was referring to Amorphis, particularly Eclipse and SW. Who knows, OmG might have picked up some momentum as well.

They release a new album every two years on average I wouldn't really call extremely quick. And imo the quality has dropped a lot over the years.

Sad to see Toni go. He did a really nice job on NWS, but I'm sure they'll find a fitting replacement.

About the new album release, I hope it's one of those cases of inspiration.
