Swedish power metallers Hammerfall have recently announced that they will be taking an extensive break in 2013. The band issued the following statement on their official website: "In the midst of celebrating their 15th anniversary of the album Glory To The Brave and the subsequent taking of the metal world by storm, the band has announced that they will take an extended break immediately following the festivals this summer."

"It has been an unbelievable first 15 years, to say the least", says guitarist Oscar Dronjak, "and now we are taking a pause to ensure that we have another 15 years ahead of us." There will be no Hammerfall activities in 2013, but the band promises to return strong the next year.

"The plan is to use the year off to recharge our batteries and come back more vital than ever with a new album in 2014", explains singer Joacim Cans.

Out of the ashes of Norway Rock Festival comes Øyesletta Live, in Kvinesdal, this summer. Hammerfall will do their only show in Norway until 2014, headlining on June 22nd.

Man, I wish I could take an entire year off of my job and get away with it.

Usually when bands take time off they don't come back. They normally take a year out because they start to get sick of the site of each other. Get ready for some solo albums, then a breakup announcement..

Good for them. Every band deserves a break when they have that many years under your belt.
Zender 1.8 - 10.04.2012 at 20:02

Metal Invader - 11.04.2012 at 00:00
If this mean that they will be back and make better albums i welcome this move!:)
Nosurper - 11.04.2012 at 00:00
This news is redundant. We're all gonna be off in 2013, remember? We're all dead come December
RavenKing - 11.04.2012 at 00:53
They can take a decade off, for all I care.

haha, I figured you'd post something like this.

imo also seeing as their last 4 albums were terrible, I think/hope they're gonna disband for good. Unfortunately since they pussified their style they are making way too much money for that to be expected.
Troy Killjoy - 11.04.2012 at 05:32
Apparently taking a vacation is breaking news.

You're only postponing the inevitable disbandment anyway...
mikeprado30 - 11.04.2012 at 05:46
This band was getting weirdest day by day, and Infected is the proof... I don't give so much for them (anyway Jens doesn't sing as in the early days, and it hasn't got so many time since Glory To The Brave). I hope if they take it back, please release something worth, that's all.
Ace Frawley - 11.04.2012 at 13:45
They can take 2014 off as well and 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025... do I have to keep going?
SceneryOfLoss - 11.04.2012 at 20:04
Glad I got to see them in 2011
AngelofDeth - 12.04.2012 at 04:32
