It's been quite a while since we last heard from the swamp metallers Kalmah. So, what exactly has the band been up to?

Well, Kalmah has almost finished writing their new and seventh album, details of which are yet to be known though the album has been tentatively scheduled for a spring 2013 release. They have scheduled studio time for January where they will begin recording the new album. The band has also lined up a new video for the title track off the new album, which will be available for viewing soon. The video was shot at the end of September.

In the band's own words: "Nearly 16 years has passed from the early demos of Kalmah. Now alive and well the group of Swamp metallers are at the end of writing process for the 7th studio album. Album release is planned to Spring 2013. There is now 6 new Kalmah master pieces in rehearsal rotation and there is more to come. Band will enter studio in January 2013.

Cover and booklet artwork design has started. With the 7th album band decided to go back to the roots and step out of the digital image world. The artist and illustrator is Juha Vuorma. At the end of September band shot a new music video from the title song of the new album. While waiting the video release, watch the making of video..."

Kalmah have never released a bad album so I'd expect it to remain that way.

I wasn't a fan of Black Waltz, but I loved 12 Gauge, so I'm excited to see what they've come up with now.

Exactly the same for me. Even though all their albums were very good, i still prefer "12 Gauge" which is their 6th album. If a band can make their 6th album their best, i'm only hoping for very good stuff coming up.

I like the preview for the upcoming video. Would have been nice to hear some excerpts or short clip interview explaining the musical process from their own words. Other than that I'm still looking forward to the new album in 2013!
