Karnivool - New Song Available Online


Australian progressive metal band Karnivool have announced the premiere of a new song called "The Refusal" which is now streaming online. Their upcoming untitled album is due out in the summer, four years after the release of Sound Awake. The track can be heard here.

Following two years of writing, Karnivool bunkered down for three months, throughout the Australian summer, to record their anticipated new album at Studios 301 in Byron Bay, alongside producer Nick DiDia (Rage Against The Machine, Mastodon, Bruce Springsteen).

First listen: Wasn't that fond. Second half of the song hit, and I loved it. Second listen and I love this song. Brilliant. Heavier than anything they've done, and still complex and atmospheric.

It's missing the elegance of Sound Awake. Sounds like a jam session, which isn't necessarily bad, I just really hope that the whole album isn't like this. *socks remain unrocked*

Eh. Remember how different Set Fire To The Hive sounded to the rest of the album? Pretty sure it'll be like that.

Idk. I think I've listened to Hive too much, but I really enjoyed this, even more than hives.
