Apparently Týr is not the kind of band who likes letting fans struggle waiting for news and giving them bite for bite. Suddenly, the band revealed what will be the name and the artwork of their upcoming album, which will be released on September 17th and will be the first under Metal Blade Records. The album will be entitled Valkyrja, and the cover can be seen below. To give a taste of what the album will sound like, the band is also streaming a new song, "Blood Of Heroes", via both Soundcloud and YouTube. Basically, it is a good day for Týr fans. Now we just need to know if you like the song.

The band recruited acclaimed drummer George Kollias (Nile) to act as studio drummer and Leaves' Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine joined vocalist/guitarist Heri Joensen for a vocal duet on "The Lay of Our Love".

They aren't taking anymore risks. Long gone are the days when they were unique. They still have their own vibe, but it looks like they want to release the same album again and again. Sad times, ladies and gentlemen

Pretty awesome coverart I must say. Good song too

Their sound has changed so much over the last couple albums. That song has nothing remotely resembling Prog metal, it sounds more like an unoriginal Power/Folk/Heavy mixture...

The song is pretty average if you ask me. Nothing terrible, but I had expected sth more.

The song is just ok. I miss the days when this band pumped out songs like "The Edge" and "Dreams." But that is one classy album cover.

5/10

Mediocre, like the last album. Hopefully Heri will put out something more memorable with Heljareyga in the future. Until then I say progressive viking metal is dead.

Since when Tyr have become a power metal band? They were one of the most original folk metal bands.

Hmm, I understand that this could be a song to 'get a feeling about what Týr is like' without risking to give anything 'too much' (something many could refuse). I just hope that the reason they released this song is rather marketing ( from Metal Blade Records' side) , than because the whole album is like this... so I stay positive and keep awaiting a nice album!

I could say I don't consider myself a fan of the progressive precisely I think, prog or not, the true is this band know how to do good music, the last álbum was awesome! and this song or Mare Of My Night are not exception and continue the same quality line in my opinion
