Following their last release Neverworld's End, German symphonic metal act Xandria has just hit the studio this past week to start recording their next album. The yet to be titled new album is going to be the sixth studio album in the band's career. The production is a collaboration with Joost van den Broek (After Forever, Star One, ReVamp, etc.) and Sascha Paeth (Edguy, Epica, Avantasia and many more), joining forces with the group's main composer Marco Heubaum.

The release date of the new record is yet to be announced, but the plan is to get it out sometime in the first quarter of 2014. What would you like to see the band try this time?

Excellent news

I enjoined the last album a lot and I was also glad that it was so well received by fans and reviewers... nevertheless, I stopped listen to it too soon, perhaps because it lacks some originality. Hopefully the new producers will figure out a way to avoid this issue and still preserve a little of that old Nightwish sound.

Really good news. Last album was just wonderful.

More of the same from the last album please, but yess as Mariano said, some originality would be nice and give it more lasting value. As i too have found that after the initial excitement of the last album, it hasnt been played much lately..

Unless the new line up of Nightwish goes back to their old sound, I would be happy if they release an album similar to the last one. Not too bothered about originality if it sounds that good.

I'd love to hear more songs in the vein of "A Prophecy Of Worlds To Fall" and "The Nomad's Crown". I just find these longer tracks to be generally more impressive. More of the sinister stuff like "Soulcrusher" and "Cursed" would also be really cool. Above all, no matter if they stay the same or try to experiment, I hope they deliver another masterpiece.

The latest album is a step in the right direction, it has been shown that this style works, but we must not predict what that will contain the new album, a new change of vocalist does not mean success in terms of good music.
