Protest The Hero don't take themselves too seriously and their new video proves just that. The Canadians have just debuted a new video for the track "Underbite" which is as they called it, "a full blown puppet music video". Director Marc Ricciardelli is behind the video now available for your viewing pleasure below. Fingers...
The song "Underbite" is of course from their new album Volition, still streaming in full over here.
The band comments: "We admit, we have had some pretty outlandish ideas for music videos in the past. We may not have hit it out the park with all of those ideas - but something tells me we are close with this one. When we brought up the idea of a full blown puppet video to our friend / director Marc, he laughed in our faces. He continued laughing for weeks until he remembered a friend of his knew how to make wonderful little paper puppets. That's when he got serious. He took on the idea with every bit of his creative being and this is the result. You may not like the song, you may not agree with the lyrics, but if you don't like the video, we don't like you."
I don't know whether this whole "puppet video" thing is becoming the latest craze or not, but I surely hope it is. Some of the most entertaining music videos I've seen in quite some time!
Still not sure how I feel about the video being split between story segments and the actual music though. The video quality is top-notch, but I do wish I could have heard the entirity of the song in it, without having lost some parts to dialogue and story events and the such...
