I think that's much better than the first song. if you no longer have anything to do with black metal, at least be melancholic.

Not bad but how boring...
Fallen Ghost - 03.01.2014 at 14:52
All the metal parts and influences are really gone, as Neige promised. I'm afraid this will sound boring in the length.
HaralambossHorn - 03.01.2014 at 14:56
Kind of too common, too overheard, we've listened to this kind of things million times before i.e. from Anathema. Just a sad melody and that's it, no build up, no actual movement in the song.
BlueMobius - 03.01.2014 at 16:05
Wow, more of this dream sequence drudgery. Count me out.
God Alone - 03.01.2014 at 16:23
Ten minutes of total anesthesia. This is gonna be the snorefest of 2014.

Damn, any hope of this being at least a bit enjoyable is now gone.
Divergenceless - 03.01.2014 at 19:40
Again, this isn't a huge surprise whatsoever.
Since I moderately enjoyed Alcest's last effort, I suspect I will enjoy this album as well.
Troy Killjoy - 03.01.2014 at 19:58
Not bad, but I prefer this:

People have to understand that there isn't metal in Alcest anymore, as if that's a huge shock after the last few albums. I enjoyed it.

By the looks of this thread I don't think there's an issue with understanding Alcest is no longer a metal project. It's never been a fully metal project in any case, it's just a matter of really poor songwriting this time around. Neige is running out of ideas and is getting less and less ambitious with his music. Old Silver Key is a good example of this as well, even if that project more rooted in metal.

I don't think people are all complaining about the shift of genre - which was indeed predictable and natural.
Glad to see that Neige is very content to make this music, but I just can't connect with this band anymore. It has become just another common indie-rock/shoegazing stereotype, and in 2014 that's certainly not a compliment, imho. Also, I'm getting a bit tired of those "aahh eehh oohh ethereal enchanting overwhelming dreamy BEAUUUTYYY!!".
I really can't see where's the big deal. Because if someone tells me that now there's the Icelandic atmosphere or Amiina... Well...
Dima - 04.01.2014 at 00:14
Meh. It's nice background music.
Dentura - 04.01.2014 at 03:01
This sounds really good! Better than the last song they put out really. Im looking forward to whatever Alcest is planning for this one.
HaralambossHorn - 04.01.2014 at 15:52
Hmm, I'd give a 6,5 out of 10. At least it's better than their previous track that reminded me of U2
Reaper_Redeamer - 04.01.2014 at 19:48
Well, consider that this is the songs with which Alcest are closing the album. So usually its something smooth. Of course cant judge if i ve not listened to the previous tracks of the album but just saying.
Yeah i agree that's not something special both this and the other track released...
Vombatus - 04.01.2014 at 20:53
Snoozefest, but i guess it is alright for background music you ain't paying attention to. And still much better than the first song... now that was atrocious.
All that Alcest inspires me lately is some sort of little girl's dream with lots of fairies and rainbow ponies and magical clouds with some constant background high-pitch annoying voice going "aaaaaaah-ehhhhhhhhh-uhhhhhhh-ohhhhhh" forever. I can't dig that.

You forgot to mention the magical elves with leafy penes floating over The Great Ocean Of Molasses.

Seems to me that at any given time Metalstorm always has a few bands that everyone loves to gang up on and hate, and it seems that at the moment Alcest is right at the top of that list.

Uh, I think people here are just tired of this sound by now. Some of his earlier albums were actually highly regarded by users and even some Staff/Elite members but what he's been doing recently is laughable.

I totally get that, and I completely understand why people don't dig this. I've always just found it amusing watching the ebb and flow of hate on Metalstorm which always seems to be directed at a select few bands at a time before shifting elsewhere. Wasn't trying to say people are hating on it because that's the "cool" thing to do, which is what it probably came across as.
