08:09 - BlueMobius Just got my tickets for the Decibel Magazine tour! :D
07:14 - ScreamingSteelUS My top choice was Persefone's "Spiritual Migration." Next was In Vain's new album, and after that I couldn't decide between Amon Amarth and Children of Bodom. Omnium Gatherum's I liked.
06:31 - AngelofDeth also think it was the fact that not much else came out that was good. Beyond is Omnium's best yet so I gave my vote to them but damn it still not that great an album
05:52 - deadone My problem goes down to individual albums where songs blur into one tedious dirge
05:51 - Unhealer Wonder what would have happened if the staff hadn't nominated them. Would they still win as write-ins?
05:38 - ScreamingSteelUS I wouldn't go that far, but I agree they can be repetitive. For me, it's one of those cases of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." "Twilight of the Thunder God" may be my favorite, though.
Devin Townsend just announced that they will launch a crowdfunding campaign for the new album Casualties Of Cool. So, the album release will not be backed by a label and the funds will be for the album packaging and more. This shouldn't be too difficult to achieve. Also, it appears that it might not be released under the Devin Townsend moniker according to his latest tweet. Instead, it will be its own entity. We should know more details about it soon.
The following message was also issued: "It's time for us at team Dev to shift our focus to Devin's next musical adventure: Casualties Of Cool. We'll soon launch a 3 month long crowd funding campaign on PledgeMusic since we'll be releasing this album without a record label to back it up and we'll need some serious funds to produce nice looking album packaging and get us a great promo video as eye candy. More details on all of this in the coming weeks but here's a brand new picture of Devin and the lovely Ché Dorval (main vox on the record, you might remember her from DTP's Ki album) already as a bit of a tease..."
Devin also tweeted: "So for almost a year now, we've been planning a Pledge campaign... it'll start in a couple of weeks. Been a hard decision... I've been working to get an absolute ton of content and great stuff for people to be involved with, filming videos and making tons of music. It will be under the Casualties Of Cool project, but anything over and above goes into Ziltoid. This is about making an awesome thing. I have such lofty goals for these upcoming projects and would love to involve folks in it to see how far we can take these ideas... Again, it's been difficult in my mind to make it awesome for people, so I've been working on an absolute ton of stuff to include...
"Because it's Monday and I'm swamped, I will just say that I have a ton of projects and ideas on the go I'm really excited to tell you about... ...More info once I clear my workload for the day and get my guitar gear fixed up (touring beats every piece of gear you own into dust..wow). And yeah, Casualties Of Cool is its own thing...not DTP, and although Ziltoid is very metal, Casualties is not."
Also, check out a recent video of Dev performing "Kingdom" for EMGtv:
Can't wait to see what Devin is comming up with again. I have to say part of me being a fan of his music is because he always surprises us with his releases. He doesn't make any album with the same furmola as the one before it.
And the music in the vid that Varjo posted sounds nice (a bit like KI)
