Unpleasant news coming from the AC/DC camp, as the founding member and guitarist Malcolm Young is temporarily leaving the band due to health problems.

As it reads from the band's official Facebook page: "After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support. In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family's privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."

We wish Malcolm a full recovery.

In a recent interview, frontman Brian Johnson has debunked rumours that the band are about to split up and revealed that AC/DC are still planning to get together and write material for a new album.

He stated: "We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver. We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we'll record it."

Sad news. This is something we better get used to as the old school get older.

No disrespect intended, but what's the point of continuing to make music? They've written the same album for 40 years and they're so far past their prime I'm surprised they don't perform in wheelchairs.

Great Metallica joke though. Right up there with the ever-hilarious and incredibly witty Swallow the Cum.

Literally none of the bands you mentioned play the same music as AC/DC. Unless you meant bands that release the same album over and over again (like Tankard)? But that wouldn't apply because all of the bands you mentioned have gone through evolutionary changes in their sound.

In any case, I may not like the music but hopefully this guy pulls through. These kinds of things are inevitable with age.

Oh again someone complaining about AC/DC being AC/DC....well, here's something for you:

"...The members of AC/DC get up in the morning, they plug in their guitars, and they make rock. Finger-bleeding, face-shattering, earsplitting rock. It's not about innovation, growth, inspiration. It's about doing the damn thing. Every day. Every day. Every day they write "Big Balls." As Angus supposedly once said, "I'm sick to death of people saying we've made 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we've made 12 albums that sound exactly the same." Boom. Face. The men of AC/DC do not care if you are not even dimly aware whether their latest album came out last week or the fall of 1987. They know what you think of them, and they do not care. Because AC/DC wants this shit forever, man."

Cheers

Impossible to explain it better. AC/DC is AC/DC, I can't imagine them doing something different, they're one of the very few cases of bands from which you expect always the same because you know anything different wouldn't work.

Also, they represent as nobody else the feeling and the spirit of rock: straight, simple, no complications, just playing what they feel and that's all.

I see people like you that complaint that a band make the same album every time but if that band change their sound you people say that they are not good anymore! bands cant please everybody!
Timelord - 19.04.2014 at 05:45
Why even bother giving stupid remarks like that any attention. All I hear when people say shit like that is 'I don't like so you shouldn't either" If you had the chance to see "Black Ice" tour you already know that AC/DC hasn't lost anything except maybe their hair. They have ALWAYS been about the music and NOTHING else. Unlike Lica( metal left in 89) who has become the very same shit band that we all hated. I am a die hard Bon Scott fan and if you listen to all those early albums they all have a different mood and sound even if their formula never strays far from home. Why? It works!! The best PURE Rock n Roll band ever!!

Oh, excuse me, farcehead sir

Who say's that if band alter the sound they're not good anymore?

If they change their sound in good innovative way and sounds massive and intresting then I think chances are they won't get bash. I've seen bands going in different musical direction and that change has brought band good records, more fans and even good labels. Hell, even I've seen bands they were good but change in music dumped reputation to the worse.
Antidote - 19.04.2014 at 18:57

IM just saying that metallica change their sound and everyone hated! amorphis change and some people hate it! kreator in the 90s change and they lose fans! cradle of filth change and they lose fans! cryptopsy change and they lose fans! even when carcass change they lose fans! but i know that some changes are good for example kreator in the new century or carcass in my opinion! my point is that bands can't please everybody! but if someone likes a band its for something and if they change that something it probably wont be the sound! you should add children of bodom to that list

"my point is that bands can't please everybody!"

That really is the point, and should automatically end any argument/debate over such nonsense. No matter what a band does, (particularly very well known bands) there will inevitably be a section of metal fans who will bash them for it. Slayer stay true to thrash their whole career, and some people bash them for having songs which "all sound the same". On the other hand, Metallica stop playing thrash, and they are bashed for being "sell-outs". Band's just need to do what they want to do, because pleasing everyone simply isn't possible.
deadone - 20.04.2014 at 09:58
Bands can't win. Change and you suck. Don't change and you suck.

IMO listen to what you like.

If people like AC/DC who don't change then that's fine.

And if other people like bands that change every album, then that's fine too.

Different products for different markets.

Metallica - if they don't change the sound and produce average record, still they'll get fucked.

CoF - they didn't change the sound. They keep producing same album over and over again.

Kreator - They bought the variation and have done incredibly well. Handful of thrash bands who has done fairly well tilting musical direction.

Cryptopsy - good band but dilapidated with "TUK' and didn't enjoy with self-title album. Again, they didn't change the sound. It's rehashed by older material.

Amorphis - love this band but never saw any castigation even they changed then sound. 2013 release was very good indeed.

If you want to look for "bands CAN please everybody", check out death metal releases in 13 and 14(still some releases to come out).
