You might remember that at the beginning of this year, the former long-time Machine Head bassist Adam Duce filed a lawsuit against the band and their manager, among others. He was seeking damages for trademark infringement, breach of partnership agreement and defamation, and claimed he was kicked out of the band. It seems that this dispute has been settled, according to a post on the band's Facebook page. However, the group didn't reveal the terms of the deal. The Americans continue to work on their brand new album, set for release in November this year.

Statement released by the band: "A $1.8 million dollar litigation suit filed against heavy metal recording artist Machine Head, manager Joseph Huston, record label Nuclear Blast, and current-bassist Jared MacEachern by former Machine Head bassist Adam Duce was settled yesterday in San Francisco, CA. The terms of the deal will remain confidential but both sides were able to reach a satisfactory agreement.

"All claims in the dispute have been dropped against all parties named including but not limited to the $800,000 dollar suit against the band for breach of fiduciary duty and interference with prospective economic advantage, as well as the bizarre $1,000,000 dollar defamation suit against singer / guitarist Robb Flynn regarding a blog the guitarist posted. It was mediated by Gail Migdal Title, with the litigation team for Machine Head handled by Kari Keidser, Dawn Coulson and Randall Rich of Epps & Coulson, along with long-time Machine Head entertainment lawyer Scott Harrington.

"Machine Head will hit the road in the U.S. July 8th with Anti Mortem on the Killers & Kings tour, and will release their as-yet untitled 8th album (their first with new bassist Jared MacEachern) in November."

In terms of the band's new album, Robb Flynn informed in a recent update that the artist Marcelo Vasco has created the album's cover. The title is also settled. You can expect more announcements about it soon.

I suppose it's good they have got this all sorted out before the touring and the new album. Bring on the new album!

"A million dollar suit for a blog post" explains everything about Adam Duce. I think Robb had enough reasons to fire him.

I read the blog post that Robb Flynn wrote. It seems to me that Flynn is a sensitive guy and over-reacts and I have never thought Duce was an anchor on the band live. Ah, musicians. Money always warps people's moral compass as well.

It's the American Way™.

When in doubt, sue them for all they've got. Especially when it comes to emotional duress.
