Rob Zombie - Lost His Voice, Cancelled RockFest Performance

This past Sunday, Rob Zombie was forced to cancel their set at RockFest in Cabott, Wisconsin, due to the frontman losing his voice. He stopped singing during their second song of the set and left the stage. Today, Rob Zombie released a statement apologizing to fans for what happened. Rob says this was not something he did lightly and hopes these words may go some way to state why he had to stop the show early.

Zombie's statement: "I am very sorry to everyone who was at RockFest. Believe it or not this is the first time in 29 years I have not been able to finish a show. I have played through many many nights with a fucked voice. I knew it backstage but came out and tried anyway, but failed. I understand people are pissed, but what can you do? It is easy to say 'man up and just do it' but when no sound is coming out there is nothing you can do. If you have ever lost your voice before, then you know it doesn't magically return just because you want it to. If there was a way to do the show I would have done it, as I have many, many times before. Fuck, I done shows where I walked to the side of the stage between songs to vomit I was so sick. Whatever. I'm not looking for sympathy and I don't expect anyone care but these are the facts.

"As far as everyone yelling 'I've been a fan for 20 years and now I fucking hate you! you pussy rockstar!' What can I say fucking shitty stuff happens sometimes. I tried explaining it into the mic before I left the stage but I could barely croak out a word. Do you think their was any upside to that show for me? Nope, it's all a big fucking mess that I wish never happened. We are trying to figure out a time and place to make it up to everybody. I don't take the fans for granted and I don't take this situation lightly. My goal is to never let the fans down, but on that night I did. Unfortunately I had no choice."

Festival organizers also took to Facebook to apologize: "Sorry Rock Festers. We didn't mean for Rock Fest to end this way. What we were told is Rob Zombie's voice went. We tried to get him back on stage, but to no avail. That's what took so long."

"Hey Rock Fest'ers, we understand your frustration completely. We were frustrated right along with you. We again apologize for it taking a while for the show to be officially called by RZ. We were working backstage on every and all options including medical treatment for Rob to see if he could continue with the show. We were fighting for you. Let's all wish Rob Zombie a speedy recovery. Clearly there is something seriously wrong with Rob's throat, as this is out of character for him. Thx to Corey Taylor and Stone Sour, P.O.D, Redlight King and Thousand Foot Krutch for killing it on the final day of RF14."

The picture was unnecessary. I believe you Rob. He put on a great show when I saw him Mayhem Fest 2012 Chicago. His voice was fine then, but maybe a bit strained. All those years of yelling at the top of your lungs must have really done a number on him.

Oh yay, thank you for the picture.
Maybe he'll use that time off to look for his good movies, he seems to have lost them as well.

I know right? I've heard several of his movies were quite good actually, but I admit I haven't seen them myself.

His movies are disgraceful, cheap splatterflicks. He should drop the whole director thing and stick to music. He's contributed more to entertainment with his last album than any of his movies from the previous decade.
