As far as I'm concerned, BaN make "generic melodic black metal" way better than 95% of generic melodic black metal bands nowadays, so... bring it on.

This. (and even 99% if you ask me ).

But I have the impression that for some people, if it isn't groundbreaking experimental industrial stuff, it can't be good.

I like how Vindsal alternates releases between the different styles, it gives it some freshness while remaining consistent coz he never truly departs towards a single formula. BaN would be much less interesting otherwise.

The generic is strong on this one. It's ok.

Well, only 2-3 'loud' users here refer to this side of BaN as "generic melodic black metal" so let's not make a thing of it. They'll have to suck it up and the rest of us will surely enjoy this.

Come on dudes. They have their style. Let them have it. Still better than most melo black bands.

The cover of MVII was utterly horrible, so I don't know why so many people are disappointed with this one. It's a big step up if you ask me.

I don't care what any of you have to say about "generic melodic black metal," bring it the fuck on

That comment from certain users here (you know who I'm talking about ) is damn lame. Memoria Vetusta I especially is damn great. Sure TWWTG is the best I've heard from them, but their melodic BM albums are very nice as well.

So yeah, looking forward to this quite a lot. And that cover certainly is awesome.

Take a drink every time Marcel refers to BaN's melodic black metal as average/generic - get alcohol poisoning.

Indeed. Not just him though. There are more users that keep saying the same thing over and over again. It's like mz who keeps bashing Caladan Brood for some reason, hahaha.

Utterly horrible? That's the thing about art: it's all purely about opinions. I really like that cover actually. MVI's cover is very nice as well.

Which is stupid. Part of what makes Blut Aus Nord so good is that they've never been pinned down to one style, and each of their various sounds is pretty well composed

MVII: Generic nature artwork #13487 smothered in giant, gaudy typeface. It's a huge eyesore. I agree with you about MVI's art, however; it's a beautiful painting, and the logo is nowhere near as grating.
