Bloodbath - Reveal New Vocalist

As promised, Bloodbath just revealed today their new vocalist. It is... none other than Paradise Lost's Nick Holmes! There you go, we finally know who it is. After several months of speculation, the successor to former frontmen Peter Tägtren and Mikael Åkerfeldt is finally out in the open. Are you pleased with this choice for the new Bloodbath frontman?

Nick Holmes will return to the cavernous growls on the death metallers new album Grand Morbid Funeral, set for release on November 17th via Peaceville Records.

"Ever since I got into Lost Paradise back in 1990," says Jonas Renkse, "Nick Holmes has been one of my favourite growling vocalists out there. He was always audible and articulate but still deep and definitely morbid. It is a great pleasure to work with him some 25 years later after I was introduced to his thunderous roar!"

Adds Anders 'Blakkheim' Nyström: "Little did I expect to be working with the voice behind the death metal classic Lost Paradise, or the genre-defining Gothic and yet here we are decades later, fulfilling another death metal dream. With his sinister and ominous vocal delivery, it's an absolute pleasure to make Old Nick the bell-ringer in Bloodbath's grand morbid funeral!"

His growls are terrible.

And all these people asking "why would Bloodbath take him if he wasn't great?". As if Bloodbath were top shelf death metal or something. Gathering of the washed up goth rock bands.

Wow I just checked out this news, Bloodbath is one of those bands which I found some years ago and more or less they could always satisfy me but with their choice of vocalist I think this time I will be disappointed

I for one am seriously intrigued.

Maybe new Bloodbath will be more early 1990s Death Doom?

That'd be interesting. They've said new album is the "anti-The Fathomless Mastery" or something like that, and there's a chance this is what they meant.

I don't think that Nick Holmes growls are horrible, those suit Paradise Lost music thought the growls are not that good, but his voice and style don't go with Bloodbath music at all.

Wow. I have my own feelings about this, like any long-time metal fan...but this is one of the only times I've seen the Blabbermouth comments be more positive than the MS comments. Read into that what you will...
