Gorod - Release Guitar Playthrough Of New Song

A few months ago, the French technical death metal quintet Gorod revealed they're working on a new album, to be released in 2015. Now the band released a guitar playthrough of a new song, entitled "Celestial Nature", which you can behold below. Does it sound (and look) promising to you?

Clearly this is a genre neither of you like.. in which case you should keep your comments to yourself. You don't see me posting on news updates for black and doom metal bands talking about how shit it is.

On topic: I, for one, find this song completely refreshing and am eagerly looking forward to the release of this album.

I didn't know to expect here, but I actually liked this quite a lot. Definitely gonna give their upcoming release a chance.

On the contrary I like Gorod, but much of modern tech death could indeed be described as "bullshit prog wank" as a huge amount of it doesn't contain any death metal.

To be honest, they do. But they do it well on most albums.

I've only ever liked the Transcendence EP by these guys. Everything else just feels like those soulless modern tech-death messes you seem to detest so much.

Not even Leading Vision? That to me was rare example of a tech-death band that actually slowed down and put more emphasis on writing memorable songs.

More higher quality than the rest, but in the end, ultimately uninteresting. I didn't distinguish between that album and the others.

I felt there was a universe of difference between that, which had nice melodies and grooves, and the one after of Process of a New Decline. Hated that album with a passion.

Again, heard no clear-cut difference. This band as a whole is just a messy collection of tech pseudo-death wankery. I think the reason I liked the Transcendence EP was because a) it was short and b) Cynic cover and c) epic song at the end.

I'd say Transcendence is definitely in my top favorite songs by Gorod, so I'll agree with you on that one. I'm sorry that you feel they're a wanky band.. I personally enjoy technical death metal and I haven't found one with as much groove as Gorod. I really enjoyed Leading Vision as well, J.O.O.E., but I also enjoyed their latest effort as well. As they say: "To each, his own."

This track is interesting. If I could just get into their new singer a little bit more?

Anyway, my personal favourite is Process of a New Decline. Wanky as fuck but also has some nice Cynic-y sort of sections to maintain my interest. It barely beats Leading Vision.

Great songwriting, ahead of most tech bands.

Actually, the thing I liked about this track was that it may have been the furthest that Gorod was from the typical tech-death wankery in quite some time.

On the other hand, I'm one of those who can enjoy a good tech-death wank once in a while, so maybe I'm not the one to judge.
