Kamelot - Join Napalm Records, New Album In April/May

If you were waiting for some news about Kamelot's new album, you are in luck. As you know, the symphonic metal masters entered the studio last year to begin recording their follow-up to the acclaimed album Silverthorn. The new album will make Kamelot history as it will be released worldwide (excluding Asia) on Napalm Records/Universal and Napalm Records/ADA-Warner as an exclusive licensing deal through the band's Kamelot Music LLC this April/May 2015.

In support of this anticipated release, the group will hit the road starting in March for select UK shows, followed by a massive North America tour this spring, with special guests DragonForce. Select Summer festivals will follow and the band returns to Europe in September/October for their biggest headliner tour to date.

"We are extremely excited about having a growing and hungry independent label like Napalm with the power of major distribution that we will get with Universal and ADA Warner," states Kamelot founder and guitarist Thomas Youngblood.

Thomas Caser, Vice President of Napalm Records, stated: "Being a fan of the band since the band's Epica release it has always been a dream for me to work with Kamelot! Finally this dream came true and we at Napalm Records are delighted and honoured to announce this signing. I foresee a bright future and we will spare no efforts to bring the band to where it deserves - the top! Watch out for the band's monumental new album this spring and witness Kamelot & Napalm Records conquering the world in 2015!"

New Nightwish & Kamelot in (hopefully) consecutive months. Shit yes.

Now to sit back and wait for the avalanche of guest spots. Any woman besides Elize-poxing-Ryd would be great.

Less 'Safe' material please. After 'Black Halo' that's all it's been

I enjoyed Poetry for the poison as I thought it took a more experimental route. it was def. the darkest album they've done IMO, and a bit slower to in a way. Anything in the vein of 4h legacy and karma would be a 10000/10 rating!

Yeah, silverthorn was quite safe and sounded like the Ghost Opera with lyrics from Seventh Wonder's the Great Escape swapped in. I'd love to see the band experiment and try to incorporate new sounds. Also, maybe less guest artists? I want to see what just the band alone can do.

Really, I think Poetry for the Poisoned is quite different, just lack of of sort refining and popularity. However, last album I'd say it's quite safe for sure.

Anyways, is there any chance to see Nightwish & Kamelot tour together again xD.

You really think Ghost Opera and Poetry for the Poisoned were "safe" albums? Silverthorn was a bummer but really?

Yes

Could you elaborate? I think Ghost Opera is a very underated album, The Black Halo was really amazing and I guess most people would say it's better and I agree, but Ghost Opera has very "weird"/unsafe and epic songs too, for example "Bluecher", and is over all a very strong and powerfull album, I would even say it's a little too weird and unsafe, like Anthem, why would you put destortion on Khan's voice? (That really ruins the song for me, but It's a very "unsafe" move). Poetry for the Poisoned was their darkest album so far both music wise and lyric wise. Imo that makes them both pretty "unsafe" albums. Silverthorn was very safe, someone said earlier in this thread that it was like a Ghost Opera with lyrics from Seventh Wonder which is pretty spot on, but I'd say the music and melodies were way more pop'y than on Ghost Opera, they went from being a completely uniqe and epic sounding band to something almost mainstream-sounding metal.

Anyways, I hope they can make another Fourth Legacy for their next album or something, that would be mind-blowing. They should make something similar to Lunar Sanctum to really show what Tommy has to offer.

Yeah I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. I felt that around the time just before Silverthorn was released fans were freaking out and making parallels to Nightwish's Tarja vs. Annette issue many Nightwish fans faced. I felt like I was a bit out of place since Roy Khan was not Kamelot's original singer like Tarja was for Nightwish. It was just that Roy Khan took them in a direction that made them the band they became known for. Therefore, in order to keep their fans they didn't make any drastic changes otherwise they would have just blamed Tommy and he would get unfairly antagonized. But now I think is the time for Kamelot to try something new so that the band can grow and evolve. Personally, I felt Simone Simons and Mary Youngblood (Thomas Youngblood's wife, she was Helena on Epica and The Black Halo) were good with Khan's voice and the blended together. When it came to Elize Ryd, I personally felt like Tommy was out of her league vocally. While they may just find another singer that works with Tommy's voice better (e.g. his sister, Jenny Karevik, who appears on some of Seventh Wonder's songs) but I would think that if they instead took out all the extra guests and just worked on experimenting to find a sound that works for just the band alone because that would actually make them quite unique in their genre and Kamelot hasn't done that in ages.

No idea why everyone hates Tommy? He was the best replacement possible. I miss Khan too, but Tommy kicks ass!

Didn't realise anybody did hate Tommy. He did quite a good impression of Roy on the last album.

I wasn't referring to this particular post - I've seen some unnecessary comments on other posts. Taking over from Khan would be an impossible job for just about anybody apart from Tommy. Comparisons will always exist between Khan and Tommy but they both have unique voices IMO
