The number of tracks seems fair and the release of an orchestral CD makes me think that arrangements and production in general will be great.

So it seems that tracks 6 and 9 are without orchestral parts, so maybe they have some heavy metal in store for us?

Is it just me that dosen't like the cover, album name and track names? I feel really strange about that album. Like, it might be the worst. It's just a gut feeling and I hope I am not right.

I think you might be right. I don't know. I have this sinister feeling as well.

Yeah, I thought the same. Tuomas said he was thinking in going back to a songwriting style like older albums when the orchestra wasn't the main character on every song, I guess that might be reflected on those two.

Which I think is a fitting song for Nightwish. The Edema Ruh are basically a troupe of musicians and entertainers that travel the world and it could represent Nightwish as a band. Although since Tuomas is a fan of the KKC, I would have liked to hear his interpretation of "The Lay of Sir Savien Traliard" especially since it's known as one of the most complicated songs and uses both male and female vocals.

I have exact same feeling. I don't really like anything up to this point. Let's hope music will be better than cover/album name/track names.

Everything seems very non-Nightwish and strange. Not in a good way.

I firmly withhold all preconceptions until the entire album can be heard. That being said, I'm excited as I can be!

Pretty excited for this. With a new vocalist hopefully came new ideas and reinvigorated creativity. Unlike most here I have a good feeling about this album. Then again I don't think Nightwish has ever put out a particularly "bad" record.

They held a press listening session yesterday. Here's a description of the first song "Shudder Before the Beautiful":

"Starts calmly with Richard Dawkins saying a few words, then explodes being a energetic start to the record in the similar vein with Stargazers and Dark Chest of Wonders. The riff has similarities with Storytime, but the pace of the song is quicker. In the middle of the song the is a rather unusual solo, where Emppu and Tuomas go back and forth and in the writers opinion that's one of the most impressive solo sections in NW's catalog. He also likes the chorus. Good start for setlist."

Can't say I'm excited at the moment given the album cover/name/tracklist, hope the music will turn out to be much better.
