Abbath - Finds Label Home, Band Lineup Unveiled
Things are coming together for Abbath, the band formed by Immortal frontman Abbath Doom Occulta. You probably remember that last month, Abbath announced he would move on with a new band under his name, putting Immortal to rest. Now Season Of Mist are announcing the signing of Abbath and according to them, the Norwegian black metal legend is currently working on his debut album for Season Of Mist, which is expected to be ready in early 2016. Moreover, he has revealed the band's line-up.
Bass duties will be handled by a man familiar to metal fans across the world - Tom Cato Visnes, more widely known as King ov Hell and main composer for several Gorgoroth albums as well as his own bands Ov Hell with singer Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir and God Seed with black metal vocalist Gaahl. His fellow God Seed member and Borknagar percussionist Baard Kolstad, will also join Abbath on drums.
Having already announced that "new songs have been honed, ready to sit alongside classic Immortal material and rarely - if ever - played gems", Abbath and his band will make their world debut at Tuska Metal Festival stage headlining on Saturday, 27th of June 2015. This will be followed by more headline performances.
Currently confirmed Abbath shows:
27th of June 2015 - Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, Finland
4th of September 2015 - Meh Suff Festival, Switzerland
5th of September 2015 - Fall of Summer Festival, France
18th of September 2015 - The Forum, London, UK
20th of February 2016 - Blastfest, Norway

I also think Abbaths distinctive style will colour this project as well. Baard has experience with a lot of styles in terms of his drumming. From bands like Leprous, Borknagar, and so on. It's hard for me to imagine how this will sound when it comes out. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I will welcome it with an open mind.

Abbath is still the frontman, and I'm guessing that he will call the shots. And I don't agree on the Satanism = bad lyrics thing. I think you'll find good lyrics on that theme as well, like any other theme in metal.

Written by toxx on 23.04.2015 at 11:37 Yes but Immortal was known because winter ... and I agree not always there are bad lyrics but some bands try just bpaslemose glorification of satan not write good proper lyric about that subject and that's what I don't like Later DF, Gorgoroth, Watain ... even Venom lyrics are primitive King Diamond , Dimmu Borgir when speaks about theme lyrics are good
