Rivers Of Nihil - Announce New Album, Streaming New Song

Technical death metallers Rivers Of Nihil have announced the release Monarchy, the band's second full-length and follow-up to 2013's The Conscious Seed of Light, due out August 21st through Metal Blade Records, available for pre-order here. Monarchy features the band's new members, drummer Alan Balamut and guitarist Jon Topore, and artwork by the self-taught and talented artist Dan Seagrave.

Guitarist Brody Uttley comments: "I lost a few close friends. The loss of these people had a profound influence on the creation of the music for this record. I was having strong feelings of rage, sadness, hope, and frustration as a result. The songs turned out heavier, darker, sadder, and more frightening than I had ever hoped that they would. The emotional tension completely falls apart."

Bassist and vocalist Adam Biggs continues: "The Earth has been transformed into a vast desert wasteland, where after aeons of lifelessness, new beings begin to take shape and begin their journey as shepherds of the planet. But after a while, a class system forms from a sun-worshiping religious dictatorship, and these beings start to lose their way. Only the guidance of an ancient earthly force can help them save themselves as well the planet."

Monarch tracklist:
01. Heirless
02. Perpetual Growth Machine
03. Reign Of Dreams
04. Sand Baptism
05. Ancestral, I
06. Dehydrate
07. Monarchy

Wasn't too impressed until around 2:50. Great track. I picked up their debut ages ago simply because the cover art caught my eye.
