Motörhead - Lemmy Stops Texas Show After Three Songs

It happened again. After their Utah show being stopped after a few songs, Motörhead's legendary frontman Lemmy Kilmister stopped the band's show in Austin, Texas last night again and admitted: "I can't do it." Motörhead had already cancelled their Riot Fest in Denver as well due to continued health issues of Lemmy Kilmister. At this point, it's fair to ask if it's healthy for Lemmy to even be playing live if he is not well. So far, things have not been going so well on their North American tour in support of Bad Magic.

They managed to deliver three tracks before the 69-year-old introduced their track "Metropolis", but then told the crowd he couldn't continue, and led his bandmates off stage at Emo's in Austin, according to reports. He then returned moments later and apologized to a disappointed but supportive audience.

There are still many Motörhead shows booked for this year and the next.

He better does, or he'll soon take a break permanently

He needs a well deserved break, no one will mind I guess, he's been rocking for more than 40 years.

He also needs to ask himself if this is fair to the fans. I mean, do they deserve that he keeps abandoning the shows people paid to see?

Now the band cancelled their performance in San Antonio tonight as well. I think it's disrespectful.

My thoughts exactly. If you can no longer keep playing concerts, just don't. No need to go on and cancel more shows midplaying.

50+ years of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll will do that to you, I suppose. Still not anything I'd wish on anyone, hope the fans get reimbursed and Lemmy gets well soon. Maybe they should stick to being a studio band for the time being.

Exactly... It was bound to happen sooner or later. I'm honestly surprised it didn't have sooner. He should take a hiatus and be a little bit more healthy. It might be a lot to ask from him though... But I think I've seen a lot of cases at the hospital and while studying that even small changes can help the long way.

same thoughts here, if you pay and see 3 songs, c mon, I want my money back, ok cancel show when it was not plaied, you can ask money, but now ... in Sweden bands show was sek 800 , 80 euros, sorry it was like 5 years ago, I missed it even it was in my town, I thought its expensive, sorry ... so its unfair

we are road crew, we are motorhead we play rock n roll... his life style and image don't let, I am house sitter, I have tons to do at home, he lives in a road, away, so he cant other way

But IMO why not ask live and studio bassist, he sits and sings as BB King did (was it BB King? ) anyway even its not metal, but it is metal , so sit and sing only , let some other do bass job .... Che, up to the job?

His age is. FFS he is nearly 70. I doubt most "clean living' 70yos could match the demands on him just touring/gigging.

Spend a bunch of money making a new professional record probably doesn't work out well when entitled fans just download it anyway.

Supposed to see them next week but I'm guessing its a no go. No shame Lemmy, you did it all.

He probably knows no other way to live. Being on tour most of the year for decades and such. A real catch 22. The alternative to this physically unforgiving lifestyle might be lethal in its own way.

Ruinous

It's kind of like watching a great fighter keep taking big fights after his chin has long gone. People pay good money to see a crafty veteran put on a show, but first tap on the jaw he takes has him doing the stanky leg and the fight is over before it's started.
They devote their life to the training and the goal, and it's hard to switch that off, just because you're being told you're getting old.

As already mentioned, he's been rocking non-stop for decades and surely knows no other way to exist.
Part of me thinks Lemmy would probably be happy struggling on and dropping dead on stage when it's his time, but this IS showbiz and fans pay to see a full set-list Motorhead show.

As ruffio said, A real catch 22

My colleague's grandfather is 77 and runs a marathon about 5 times a year. He works out every day, rides his bike, etc. He is in fantastic shape. Surprise, surprise - he never poisoned himself with booze, smokes, drugs, and anythting else that people usually use to kill themselves.

So yeah, Lemmy's lifestyle is catching up with him.

Your colleague's grandfather is hardly par for the course. Even people in good shape at 70 probably wouldn't be able to run a marathon at their age, regardless of lifestyle. The average life expectancy of a male is 71 years old (79 in the UK), so no, his lifestyle is not catching up with him, in fact he's pretty much beaten it despite his lifestyle. Exercise and lifestyle is not the only determining factor in long life either.

Some people poison themselves for years and get to be 90 years old, others never touch a cigarette and don't even make it to 60. Sure, his lifestyle has an impact on his health problems now, but age is a huge factor as well. Some people his age would have just as much trouble touring even if they lived a much healthier lifestyle. Everyone is different.

Thats it! Some people don't realize that when you get to that age and all you have done since you were a teenager is play music (or anything else for that matter) you don't know anything else. It can be downright terrifying. You will try to wish it all away but can't. I personally think that when it gets the point(which it may have already) to where he can no longer play at all. Lemmy won't last to much longer. I really hate to see this as I know in his mind he has to be devastated.

I think if lemmy would not smoke at all and drink as he did at youth, maybe 1-2 beers as I do per week, and normal drinking , he would made it
Some say stay away from pussy, booze and smokes you will live long, those who say so would not be able tour at 50 ...

I know 2 guys both lives in same house, smokes from age 10 1-2 packs per day at age 18 one hardly could run at all, other run faster as non smokers, now at age 31 that still runs super fats and othe hardly can walk .... 5 years he will ne a chair and both smokes even more
