Dream Theater - Announce European Tour, To Debut New Album Live

Dream Theater are hitting the road again. The prog legends announced a special one month long European Tour for early 2016 where they will be promoting their upcoming album, whose title and further details are still to be revealed. It is scheduled for release via Roadrunner Records in early 2016. Why is this tour special? During the shows the band will play their new record in its entirety!

The one-of-a-kind tour will kick off on February 18th in London and end on March 18th in Milan, with stops in Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm and Paris (two shows). Rest assured that more concerts will be announced soon. Tickets will go on sale on November 4th or November 6th, depending on the venue.

Stay calm. More shows will be announced. I'm optimistic that Portugal will be included since their shows here are always big.

It's just a part of the tour that is confirmed. I think one can expect at least 20 shows in a month span.

Feel it's pretty risky to buy tickets to a show where an entire new album that you haven't heard yet will be played - what if you hear the album before you go and hate it? Or if the shows happen before the album comes out, and you reach the third song and realise you've got another hour of music you hate before something good comes on? I like DT and have enjoyed them each time I've seen them live but I don't think I'll bother going to see the London show on this tour

Pretty skeptical about the sound of the new album.

I've come to the realization that it's nearly impossible to enjoy metal songs you haven't heard before live because the notes are almost inaudible, so I wouldn't attend any of these shows.

I've just read on progarchives that it's gonna be a concept album and it's named The Astonishing (I think it's a bad name for an album). Now I understand why they wanna play the whole thing live.

I'd be surprised if the album isn't released before the tour begins. Doesn't make sense for it not to.

Yup, it's an awful album name.

I'm a huge DT fanboy. So this was a must for me. Was? Yeah, I saw the ticket prices yesterday for the Stockholm show. It's the most expensive ones I've ever seen. Iron Maiden and Metallica are cheaper. It's about the same price that I've paid for one day festivals such as Sonisphere. I don't get it. I've seen Dream Theater perform "An Evening With" before. I've seen Opeth play for three hours. Then it was about half the price for this show.

What? Ridiculous. I could go to 7 or 8 better gigs for that.

Really? Where did you see that? Shows are never that price here. Maybe 50 euros tops.

From various places I've heard this will be a "Rock opera" and a concept double album.
If this is anything like Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence I'm all over it as that album is considerably underrated!

I'm just gonna put this here...

Indeed. So this will either be great or a horrible failure. Looking forward to it. At least they're trying again.
