Inquisition - Problems Entering Canada, Cancel Appearances

Colombians at heart, Inquisition later relocated to the U.S. and are currently touring in support of Mayhem in North America. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the Canadian shows in Montreal and Toronto due to an Immigration issue. Sadly, the Canadian fans will not be able to see Inquisition perform.

Inquisition explained: "Due to an unforeseen Immigration problem Dagon was unable to enter Canada this morning; the band will not be performing in Montreal and Toronto as scheduled. Inquisition and its team apologizes to all their die hard fans and to Mayhem. We are working endlessly to resolve this problem and re schedule the affected Canadian dates at a later date. Incubus will be at the band's merch table communicating with supporters. Inquisition will see you In Cleveland."

I don't get it why this band is still being labeled as Colombian. Dagon is from the US, started the band in Colombia, then relocated to the States. The other guy is American too. Unless Dagon insists on Inquisition being labeled Colombian. It just makes no sense.

I always thought they were Colombian and then relocated to the united states

Apparently Dagon's mother is Colombian, but he was born in Seattle. Incubus joined the band after Dagon returned from Colombia.

Dagon was born in the US, then moved to Colombia with his mum and returned to US again.

Here from Dagon's mouth from a face-to-face interview I did with him in July 2016.

Quote:

I'll give you the short version. In 1989 when I was seventeen years old I started Inquisition in Colombia, South America. Half my family is from there and that was where I was growing up at the time. I was born in the United States and when I was eleven I went down with my mother, she wanted to move back to her homeland. Being the youngest kid I went along for the ride. By the time I was thirteen I got into heavy metal. Like all teenagers that got into metal I was obsessed with it and I had to start a band. By 1988 I had started a band called Guillotine and I changed the name and the music changed a little bit and it became Inquisition in 1989. From 1989 all the way to 1996 Inquisition existed in Colombia and during that period three demos were released. Two demos were thrash metal like in the old Kreator, Sodom vein with Inquisition's own flair to it. And then in 1994 I did something that was in the total black metal vein. So, the band really changed but I didn't want to change the name. And by 1996, due to personal reasons, I wanted to move back to Seattle where I was originally brought up since I was a little kid. Even though my whole life was changing, in 1996, by moving to Seattle the idea was to keep Inquisition going, write the debut album, find any cult underground label that was willing to release it. All I needed was a drummer. So, I found a drummer within the first month I arrived and that is the drummer (Incubus, born as Thomas Stevens, e.d) that is still with Inquisition.

Here's a link to the entire interview, which also states why he moved to Colombia with his mum...
