Vanden Plas - To Release Live Album/DVD

German prog veterans Vanden Plas have announced the release of the band's second live album, almost 17 years after their first and only live record, Spirit Of Live. The album will be titled The Seraphic Live Works and will drop on May 12th via Frontiers Music Srl. The album, available also on DVD, documents Vanden Plas performance at the 2011 edition of ProgPower USA festival, held annually in Atlanta.

It can be read in the statement: "The Seraphic Live Works shows unmistakably how extraordinary this gig at Center Stage Theater was for everyone involved. A performance exploding with energy, euphoric audience, and the venue's own special flair. The recordings will captivate every viewer and there is no question that Vanden Plas made the right decision to preserve this performance for eternity.

"Vanden Plas has fans all over the world, but for those who have not yet been able to experience the band, they wanted to give them the next best thing with The Seraphic Live Works. The audio and video capture an authentic band that stands out in the prog metal genre."

Only 9 songs?? Most of them are from Seraphic Clockwork too, so that's a bit underwhelming.... It is a great album but would have liked to see more from the older albums or some from the immortals albums (although this was likely recorded before they existed). Most of my favorites are missing (shadow I am, nightwalker, rainmaker, etc....)

I'm excited still though, its probably the closest i'll ever get to seeing them live!

They are fantastic live and I can't wait! Pity it's so short though...
I hope once they're done with "Chronicles..." trilogy they will play it live in its entirety and record it.
