Leaves' Eyes - Begin Recording New Album

Following last year's big changes in Leaves' Eyes with original singer Liv Kristine out of the band, the metallers welcomed vocalist Elina Siirala to their ranks and released the EP Fires In The North. A new chapter now begins as the band is recording their upcoming new album and successor to King Of Kings. For now, the drum recordings are done. Stay tuned for more details in the near future.

Drummer Joris Nijenhuis said after he finished recording the drum parts: "Expect some heavy and big sounding drums, the album will be filled with some great heavy, catchy and epic songs. Definitely my favorite Leaves' Eyes album so far!"

Well, considering last year's shit storm, they'd better deliver a great album.

Well, there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to... the essential song writing partnership is still in place and Elina has a great voice. Yes, last year's drama was extremely unfortunate, but most of us hope that both parties can now move on and put out some great metal.

First gig was Manowar (loincloths 'n' all), Bristol Colston Hall in March 1983, on the 'Hail to England' tour. Tickets were £3.75, 300 in the audience, Mercyful Fate never showed, but my hearing still got seriously trashed..

I am not saying the contrary. I just hope something good will eventually emerge out of that unfortunate situation. Wait and see as usual.

Yeah, the drama last year was a huge turn off for me.

I still don't actually understand what happened. I just know they have a new singer.

In a nutshell, Liv Kristine and Krull decided to divorce in January 2016 and all went downhill from that point.

You obviously weren't paying attention to last year's Metal Storm awards.. I think it was the runner up in their Drama of the Year category..

Unfortunately, it's one of those downsides for bands with a female member, when they are in a relationship with another band member. Sometimes they can split amicably and go on to make some very impressive music, other times, it's simply too great an ask. All we can do is wish both parties well for the future, which is why I'm hoping this will be a successful transition for LE, as Elina on paper is a good fit at least.

I know Liv has just appeared on an impressive new Orden Ogan track 'Come with me to the other side' but her air time was rather minimal. Otherwise, I'm not sure what she is up to of a more concrete nature at the moment... anyone heard anything?

She hasn't been in a lot of stuff, true. Looking at her official FB page, it seems it's mostly collab recordings with other bands. And a fest in Madrid performing Theatre Of Tragedy and solo songs apparently.
