The Dark Element - Release Debut Music Video

Swedish singer Anette Olzon (ex-Nightwish) and Finnish guitarist and composer Jani Liimatainen (Cain's Offering, ex-Sonata Arctica) recently premiered their new collaboration project, The Dark Element, which also features Liimatainen's Cain's Offering counterparts Jani "Hurtsi" Hurula (drums) and Jonas Kuhlberg (bass). Today Frontiers Records Srl released the debut music video for the second track of The Dark Element's upcoming debut self-titled album, and its name is "My Sweet Mystery". The music video was produced by the acclaimed Swedish director Patric Ullaeus. Enjoy!

Olzon did an interview for Loudwire, and had the following to say: "We shot the video outside of Gothenburg in a cool abandoned factory building which is also Patric Ulleus' studio. It was a perfect spot to film with lots of space, dirty floors, dust and brick walls. We wanted a video with a live feeling and this place worked perfect for it. It was the first time and so nice to finally get to see who he was and the person behind those great songs I had been recording vocals for. We had emailed lots, of course, during the whole one year process of making the album, but it is always nice to meet face to face so you can talk in person. The other two guys are the drummer and bass player who have played on the album: Jonas Kuhlberg (bass) and Jani Hurtsi Hurula (drums). Me and Jani felt it would look kinda lame to only have him and I in the video, so we asked them to join us for the shoot and they were happy to do that. They normally both play in Jani's band Cain's Offering so they all knew each other from before."

Liimatainen added: "I have always been a big fan of Anette's voice and when the opportunity to work with her arose, writing and producing an album, it was something I just couldn't say no! It has been a blast working on the songs and I can't wait for everyone to hear the final result. This will be epic! The songs are extremely melodic and to the point. My goal has been to write catchy songs with hooks that will haunt your dreams, and I think it's pretty much 'mission accomplished.' Stay tuned for something special!"

The Dark Element will be released on November 10th, via Frontiers Records Srl.

The main riff sounds like another variation of the riff Nightwish has been cloning in their last 3 albums. The rest is Cain's Offering with female vocals. Yet, it's worth listening anyway.

The first song they released was good, but yeah, this one is very reminiscent of recent Nightwish. It's grand: nothing outstanding or particularly original.

After listening to "The Dark Element" and this song, I am very excited about this project. Glad to see Anette back in the metal scene.

Yes, sounds so much like Nightwish lol It's a bit distracting.

I like this too, even though it sounds quite a bit like Nightwish. I think the title track was more interesting though.

Agreed this is Nightwish worship, but it's worship of Century Child/Wishmaster/Once era NW, which easily outstrips a lot of what they've done on the last 3 albums. I really dig how Annete sounds too, this could be great

Better than Nightwish's last album. At least Anette can show her chops on this song, unlike Floor who had to restrain her vocal range dramatically on the newest Nightwish offering. Good to see Anette back in the metal scene. Her 2 NW albums are very underrated, particularly when compared with the latest one. Day and night in terms of quality.

I like this song very much.
I don't think theres a lack of originality. Maybe because I'm a fan of these kind of female fronted metal,
in which a slight difference makes a big difference
