Maidenfans.com, issued the following status report on Iron Maiden's new album, 'A Matter Of Life And Death', which has been storming the charts the world over:
"As the week rolls, more charts positions are getting in. We already announced you that 'A Matter of Life and Death' was number 1 in Finland and in Italy. Well, it also reached the first spot in Germany. Great news considering the competition and knowing that Maiden's two previous albums reached #3 and #2. As already mentionned, the album reached #4 in the UK Charts after being #3 on the midweeks. A Maiden album is often frontloaded which partially explains this slip during the week. However, almost 45,000 have reportedly left the shelves! In neighbouring Ireland, the album is at #5. In Poland, it's at #6. In the Netherlands, it's 7th and finally, down-under in Australia, it settled on place 12."

I thought you didn't like the new album...
Still, good work chaps. At least when Maiden shift records, it's not because they decided to commercialise or overexpose themselves to the media...it's because they can write both damn catchy (thank you H) and deep music.
Up the Irons! |

Up the Irons!
If you read my posts i never said that, nor hinted it.
I said it met my expectations, everyone seemed to blow up at me because i said Bruce sounded a little scrappy on the new album, which i still believe he does.
Its one of the middle ranked albums for me. |

Ok, I get you now. He does sound a bit strained, but that doesn't detract from the album for me |

I don't see why they are THIS excited about it. This is the same thing that happens every time they release a new album. Because Maiden albums are ALWAYS hugely anticipated by the Maiden fans they all rush to the stores once it hits the shelves. And after a couple of weeks the album is listed much much lower in the album charts.
Same applied for the latest Slayer, when it was released it hit the top 10 in the dutch album charts and now it is around place 40. |

I was just expected it reached Australian charts, i dont think BNW or DOD did. Australia is only a gorwing country concerning Metal, even chart Metal.
I understand what your saying though, just not in Aus |

You are most probably right about Down Under, I wouldn't know since I don't live there. So if it is a first there then that is a good sign and a sign that metal is growing. But when you look at the other countries mentioned those are all countries with a huge metalhead population. But of course it never hurts that metal albums hit the top 10 of album charts in any country. It is alays good promotion for metal. |
