Judas Priest - Debut First Single From New Album

Judas Priest are back with a fiery new single! The legendary heavy metallers just debuted a brand new video for the single "Lightning Strike" which will appear on Firepower, their first new album in four years, due out March 9th via Epic Records. In the video, you can watch the band perform in all their glory.

The band failed to make the 2018 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees even though they were nominated.

Firepower reunites Judas Priest with Tom Allom, the legendary producer who manned the boards on all of the band's records from 1979-1988. Grammy Award-winning producer Andy Sneap also worked on the 14-track effort, which the band recorded as a single unit.

Tracks:

01. Firepower
02. Lightning Strike
03. Evil Never Dies
04. Never The Heroes
05. Necromancer
06. Children of the Sun
07. Guardians
08. Rising From Ruins
09. Flame Thrower
10. Spectre
11. Traitors Gate
12. No Surrender
13. Lone Wolf
14. Sea of Red

Cool song, production is improved than the last album (not that this was a difficult task) and Rob sounds as great as always. He is the main reason why Priest have this legendary 40 year-old career. Can't wait till March, release the thing now I say!

Pretty good considering their age and the stage of their career that they are in.

I like it. There were 4 or 5 songs on Redeemer Of Souls that I return to often, and will continue to return to as I grow older. If Firepower can match that, it is good, it is all you can ask for.

I'm happy for them. If I'm still writing evolutionary biology simulations 43 years from now, I'll be happy about that, too.

You people raving about this are clearly deaf or total fanboys. This song is completely average heavy metal.

If it wasn't Judas Priest, I would say it's a good song. But coming from a band with the reputation of Priest and the caliber of songwriting that supposedly comes from them, this should be much better.

Autopilot songwriting, completely forgettable.

Whats so funny is I had some catchy pop song I didn't like stuck in my head, and I needed something to listen to, and I was like "Oh, I will give the new Priest single a try"

...

Oh, what a mistake.

On them not getting into the Hall Of Fame: I really don't care, and I'm kind of happy they didn't. So many shitty (imo) artists that aren't even rock or metal are in there, and Judas Priest don't have to be in there with them. Although there are great artists in there as well.

In the same vein as RoS, I like it.

To those criticizing this track: It's not in the same league as albums like SfV or DotF, but it's still JP. Consider they are well in their 60's after 45 years of career. The last Motörhead albums were not that great, but still, it was Motörhead with the almighty Lemmy. Same here, it's still JP and we should be glad they're still able to put this out.

JP will always be my favorite "heavy metal" band and in my top 5 in general due to the legendary albums and songs they have released.

As for this song, it's definitely has the quality and passion. I like it but it's not close to the best that the mighty Priest has released. Considering their age and capabilities to catch up with the most up to date techniques, it is acceptable and not a letdown. The production is way better than "Redeemer of Souls".

In conclusion, I am not disappointed but I wish they would take the direction of "Angel Of Retribution" & "Nostradamus". These 2 albums were phenomenal and took off from what JP started in "Painkiller". "Redeemer Of Souls" was kind of a let down so I hope "Firepower" can at least make up for that.

"The Quaker"
Kinda feel sad for people who expect every band to evolve even after their 4th X of their career. Some people are just happy to hear them rock the same old thing with slight differences, and the band is just probably happy to be able to still play what they like.

Well, it isn't as bad as anything on Nostradamus and the production has improved massively, can't wait for the album.

I'm usually not a fan of Andy Sneap's production (I've always found his guitars really sterile) but it really works on this.

You people raving about this are clearly deaf or total fanboys. This song is completely average heavy metal.

Do you always have to call people who disagree with you deaf or fanboys? Have you lost the ability to accept other people's tastes and opinions?
