Swallow The Sun - Announce New Show In Dubai

A few years ago, Finnish doomsters Swallow The Sun were banned from playing in Dubai because of supposed "devil worshiping". However, now the band decided to try again, and conquer that land. The event will take place on March 9th at Scarlet Cardinal Sofitel Hotel JBR, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Hopefully, fans will have better luck this time.

I don't think the band would go there if they did not get a good offer. Whoever is inviting them to play there might be willing to hand them the extra buck as well, otherwise, I cannot see the point of going all the way to UAE to play a gig.

does 1000 euroes each is good offer to travel there, even 10 000 play in kabul or Islamabad would not be anough to risk whit life to be hanged or jailed. Not even million of dollars. In emperial days when british army (meaning generally) was there yes, not now.

UAE is not Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or Iran, mind you. Yes, they are still very conservative with Islam, but their economic development brought them more freedom in contrast with other mostly Islamic nations. The problem with these countries is that the population is more conservative than the leadership (well... except Iran).

It's not full of metal shows but many bands played in Dubai already - if one says 'are there metal fans there?' or 'why bands ever play there', then you have no idea what you're talking about - get your facts right
Earlier shows: Metallica, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Saturnus, Motorhead, Opeth, Dark Tranquility, Arch Enemy, As I Lay Dying, Megadeth, Testament, Katatonia, Nile, In Flames, Lacrimas Profendure... and many more.
I don't think that the metal scene here is as active as it used to be few years ago, but come over, join one of the gigs and experience metal in Dubai - I think most bands that played here enjoyed the experience (not just the money).
Check out Middle Eastern metal bands as well: Bilocate, Kimaera, Aramaic, Svengali...
