Ancient Ascendant - Announce Break Up

Sad news for Ancient Ascendant fans. The British band have just announced their break up, making Raise The Torch their swansong. The last show will take place on May 11th in London at the Unicorn Camden Live and they will be joined by Crimson Throne and The Infernal Sea. This is a free entry show.

Here's their statement: "Raise The Torch will be the final Ancient Ascendant album and we will play our last shows in May. Announcement soon.

In the last 9 years we've made 5 releases, played over a hundred shows and toured all around Europe. Each release worked toward artistic success and recognition that we felt was on a rise until our last release and the last few years. With our last album what slight support we had in the label/blog/promoter backrooms of the metal industry has all but left. Financially, and personally it has become too much a strain to keep clawing at the very few opportunities that we could create and even less that came our way. And sadly those opportunities have become fewer, more hollow and empty than ever.

This has slowed our progress to a dead stop. As such the sad truth is we can no longer afford to continue. Most dissonant though, is that we consider our latest release Raise The Torch to be our finest work, the most 'us' album we ever made. In our minds we couldn't have put a firmer foot forwards into oblivion.

Still, we had good times right? Over the years we toured with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Winterfylleth, 1349, Aborted, Enslaved, Hypocrisy, Pestilence. We played a packed out big ol' tent at Bloodstock festival. We played one-offs with Bolt Thrower, Sodom, Bloodbath, Blood Red Throne. We drank cheap lager and shovelled down bargain grated cheese sandwiches in windowless venue backstage rooms all around Europe.

Most importantly we want to thank those who have supported us over the years. To everyone who bought a shirt, an album, came to a show, hung out and partied THANK YOU, so much. You made the good years some of the best we have personally ever had.

Thank you, Alex, Webb, Nariman, Dave."
