Behemoth - Charges Against Nergal Dismissed In Merch Case

If you have been following the case involving Behemoth's frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski, who was formally charged by Polish authorities for allegedly disrespecting one of the country's national symbols, alongside Maciej G., who promoted the tour, there's a new update now. According to the musician, those charges have now been dismissed. Nergal also promised that the design would return to the Behemoth merch store soon.

The Polish authorities had taken issue with the "Republic Of The Unfaithful" tour artwork and merchandise, which was said to be "insulting" to the national coat of arms of Poland. Nergal had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Nergal posted on his Instagram account and Facebook page: "European Spring has welcomed me with a gorgeous weather and... a positive verdict in 'the republic of the unfaithful' court case! Dismissed and all three of us are free of all the absurd charges! The design will soon be back in the stock so go and visit our webstore and show your support if u will! 'The only way to deal with unfree world is to to become so absolutely free so your existence becomes an act of rebellion' said A.Camus. And I try to live my life by these wise and liberating words. It's not easy tho considering circumstances: the world's political tendencies, the upcoming tide of wrong interpreted patriotism combined with religious fanatism brings rather fatal solutions and elevates the level of obscurity beyond logic. But do not lose hope my fellow brothers and sisters. THINK FOR YOURSELF. Play your own game just make sure u play it hard and well! Stay independent and honest! Another battle won, yet the war ain't over! PS. Manticore, Rafal Wechterowicz, my lawyers Jacek and Gosia, to work with u guys is an honor and winner ALREADY! Keep it up and FUCK THE SYSTEM!"

Haha, that's like saying "compose your own Metal album and upload it here, instead of writing a review of an album".

Good one. I'm afraid this will become quite common, since everyone get so easily offended these days.

I love Behemoth and totally support Nergal, but i find it a little ironic that he ends his statement with " FUCK THE SYSTEM " when it's actually the " System " ( Court ) that dismissed the case. No?

It's not about dismissing sth, it's all about giving stupid rights and opportunity for ideologically frustrated units to showing their totally irrational words and wishes, and became'ing them come true

Nergal is a smart guy. He knows that there's nothing better than controversy to boost sales/interest. When they designed that emblem, they knew exactly why it wasn't disrespectful to the Polish national symbol. They knew, because it's described precisely by Polish law: it's a white eagle with spread wings on a red background. The trick is, the eagle needs to wear a crown. Since Behemoth's artwork depicts an eagle without a crown, as well as not on a field of red, it can't be seen as a mockery of the coat of arms of Poland.

But isn't it the same "System" that put him in that predicament in the first place? I think that's the point he was trying to make; to go through all that bullshit for nothing, all under the false premise of "freedom."

I'll give you an example of what i mean; in my country (Canada) cannabis has been illegal forever, i know people who went to prison for growing or selling weed but now with lawyers, deputees, senators and other politicians, they are changing the laws and it will be legalized this summer, so they are making changes to the "System" and making it work. I agree that there are many stupid laws and changes need to be made. But in the end don't we need a "System" in some way to make these things work?

Well, that's a complicated question with a complicated answer... far more encompassing than what I'm willing to discuss here. Let's not stray too far off topic.

My sole point was that you missed Nergal's; I did not intend to justify his statement or make any claim reflective of my personal view on the matter - I just don't see his statement as contradicted.
