Midnattsol (meaning "midnight sun" in Norwegian) has shared a brand new song online. The Nordic symphonic metal masters just released the official lyric video for the title track of their upcoming new album, The Aftermath which will be released on May 25th via Napalm Records. It's another opportunity to hear new tunes from the band.

Midnattsol now has true full sister power featuring Liv Kristine and Carmen Elise!

The band said: "Hey Folks, as a huge thank you for waiting for us all these years, here is another song for you before the release of our new album! It contains a message that we want to reach out with; What do you think it is?"

Why is the production quality on their music always so damn poor? It's 2018 and this sounds like it was recorded using 1980's technology. This isn't black metal.

I notice this as well and I always think they probably don't have a lot of money to invest on that? I don't know, it just seems that way to me.

WIth the kind of equipment and software existing today, it isn't that difficult. Bands don't have to be anywhere close to rich to create music of decent quality - I mean, my friends and I have recorded songs with higher production quality than this. Granted, I realize crisp, clear quality isn't what every band is going for - but for this genre of music, poor production quality just doesn't sound good.

Yeah... on top of all the mixing/production issues I think there's always been something wrong with the guitars. The sound is so muddy. It's like the guitars were plugged into an audio interface running a creepy distortion pedal and a cheap amp emulation. You can't fix that.
