Leprous - Releases New Single

Following teases posted on social media last week, the prog metal masters Leprous have just released a new single named "Golden Prayers". You can check it out now below. Last year, the Norwegians released the album Malina. This brand new track was recorded during the Malina sessions.

The band comments: "It's very exciting for us to finally release 'Golden Prayers'. It was recorded together with the Malina material, but we felt it worked better as a standalone tune than on the actual album. So we saved it until now. Enjoy!"

The song has also been released on all of the major digital distribution platforms. Get it here.

Seeing as Malina is their best album, we do need more Malina

I think the decision of leaving this track out of Malina was a good decision, as this track seems mediocre at best compared to the rest of the tracklist on that album. I would've lived just fine without hearing Golden Prayers, as it didn't add anything to their resume in my opinion.

stupid gif

Hands down the best. What this band needed was dropping their metal sound and getting Baard Kolstad on drums.

The song is not too great though.

When the album is the lowest rated on every relevant music rating platform, I feel I can confidently say "WE don't need more Malina". Maybe you're not a part of that, which makes you fortunate because they're probably going to continue down this road for a while.

Boring as entire Malima. I'll pass. BILATERAL was the last album I enjoyed from these guys. All their songs now sound so similar.

It's their best album. They've got better and better with each subsequent release. Even the thing that used to put me off - the vocals - has improved substantially. Not to mention the brilliant drummer.
I can't wait to hear their next releases.

I remember when you used to say that the vocals put you off. You've come a long way

Malina is an amazing album and it surprised me a lot. This song however doesn't have anything exciting about it. So, it's understandable why it wasn't part of the album. It's too similar to other stuff they have done before.

The singer also came a long way - his singing is less exalted and mannered than it used to be

Malina's good, and Mirage might be Leprous' best song, but I still think Coal is their best. Would probably rank Malina 3rd or 4th of their albums, it's got great songs and unremarkable songs that are usually saved by the amazing drummer.

This song is fine, nothing amazing but I'd potentially rank it above a couple of tracks that made the cut for the album.

Ughh...what a god damn boring song. It sounds just as uninspiring as the rest of the mid-tempo bs on Malina. Obvious song structure, predictable chorus and tons of repeated verses....and a little flair on the drumms and fun twist on a vocal here and there - that's this song and that's the entire Malina album.

Props for Leprous going into some new directions, bold move - I get it they're getting older and need to start making money off their music so it's dumbed down, but damn...fucking sad. No atmosphere, hardly any guitars and nothing that gave them an edge like they had up to Congregatiion

They should just rename their album to "Falsetto this falsetto that".
