Shining (NOR) - Premiere Title Track Of Upcoming New Album

Shining (NOR) announce that they will release their forthcoming new album, entitled Animal, on October 19th via Spinefarm Records. Furthermore, the band also made a title track available for streaming, which can be heard down below. And that's not all. Shining (NOR) already confirmed first tour dates (for now only Norwegian), where they will be performing in support of this new release.

According to the group's Jørgen Munkeby, the album finds them moving on from their 'blackjazz' phase, including abandoning the trademark saxophone. He commented: "I was tired of doing the same thing. I was done with 'blackjazz' and wanted to create something new and exciting. I needed a change. I'm finally at the point where I have nothing to lose and everything to win. We had 360 degrees to play with so we could've gone in any direction. This new record is more Muse than Meshuggah, more Ghost than Gojira, and more Biffy Clyro than Burzum!"

I already expected something like this due to that song they released last year but it's still a massive disappointment. That was truly awful.

Pure trash. Even for a catchy rock song it's bad. These are the guys who made Blackjazz? Shame.

As a huge fan of Blackjazz and even some of the material that came later, this is such a disappointing fall from grace. Maybe one of the worst tracks I've ever heard.

Haha, that's like saying "compose your own Metal album and upload it here, instead of writing a review of an album".

Responses on their Facebook page range from terrible to terrific as you might suspect, anyway found this comment from Munkeby:
"Hehe! You're of course free to like or not whatever music we put out. But I started writing the music for the Blackjazz album in 2007, so for me it's been more than 10 years of almost exclusively making Blackjazz music. I'm not surprised at all that after ten years I felt the need to make some different type of music. Blackjazz, and the following two studio albums and one live album will always be there for anyone to listen to at any time. We'll also probably play Fisheye and Madness and I Won't Forget and The One Inside and many other Blackjazz hits on all our future shows until the end of days. But it just didn't feel very inspiring or fresh to make another album with the same kind of music."

Understandable of course, I'll stick to their "pre-orange" period myself, though. This doesn't sound "very inspiring" at all.
