Sepultura - To Record New Full Length This Summer

In a recent interview, Sepultura confirmed that they are scheduled to enter a Swedish studio in August to begin tracking their next studio album. The record will be produced by Jens Bogren (Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquillity) and is tentatively slated for a February, 2020 release.

During an interview with TV1.kg, guitarist Andreas Kisser offered the following update: "We are currently working on new ideas, on new music. Actually, since September-October last year, we started putting ideas together, demos. Me and Eloy Casagrande, the drummer, working in São Paulo, just building the basic structure of the songs, and Derrick and Paulo working in their houses as well, putting their input. And we have about now around 10 songs. We would like to put an album with 12 songs - that's the idea - plus record some covers and bonus tracks for special releases and stuff.

"It's great that we have this tour in April (and May), that we leave the studio a little bit to come on stage and play again. I think it's gonna bring a whole new energy and motivation to go back and finish our work.

"We still have a lot to do, but we're going in the studio in August in Sweden with Jens Bogren, which is the same producer and the same studio we used for Machine Messiah. And yes, the idea is to put out the album in February, 2020. We have a concept already, we have a name, but we cannot share it yet."

Come out with a new record when Max is back.

Stop that max nonsense, please. While Sepultura's recent stuff is indeed peculiar, Max doesn't how to write decent songs anymore, couldn't scream and grunt even if his life depended on it, and is a terrible frontman now. Derrick, on the other hand, is a good vocalist and just terrific onstage.

Nah, I really liked the last two albums

I did too (saw them live on The Mediator tour, fantastic!), but I can understand why some don't like them

Same folks who say that Ulver should go back to black metal and Nightwish should reunite with Tarja

same kind of folks a fan of both old-school Ulver AND old-school Nightwish? Could happen, of course, but that would be pretty rare

Good point, that's kinda what I was trying to say.

While I'm a fan of both early Ulver and old-school Nightwish, I prefer Ulver's 2000s output and Floor's take on old Nightwish songs.

not a fan of early Ulver, but I prefer old Nightwish (but because it's heavier, even if I do prefer Tarja)

What a terrible analogy.

I strongly think the golden touch of Max is missing from Sepultura band. It shows in the last 4 records.

It's been more than 20 years, get over it

Get over it something fans normally does when you become incapable to put out quality records. Yes, for a very long time Sepultura has become lackluster.

I quite like 'The Mediator...', if they can come out with something of similar quality I'd be interested to listen to it, but I haven't cared much for what I've heard of recent Sepultura otherwise
