LOL.

Yep.

I'll believe it after I've actually listened to the whole album...at least...three times.

The first time I listened to Tool was playing Guitar Hero World Tour. Thought it was somewhat boring... I grew up now and I rescpet those lads. I'll sure give it a spin... Or will it spin me?

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the album is already released somehow, we all listened to it and are not aware of it yet.

The guys took too long between albums to keep me amped about their next release. Which at this point, may as well be their last by their track record.
Aenima and Lateralus were fantastic albums for the distance between them but 10,000 Days didn't do a hell of a lot for me. So much more could have been done, in my opinion, with their time off.
I haven't heard anything new just to make sure my ears are fresh to the whole experience but I am not getting hype from it.

My thoughts exactly. They peaked with Aenima, Lateralus was a bit of a letdown, and 10000 Days I don't think I managed to listen to all the way through. I did hear the first 30 seconds of one of their new songs they've been playing on tour, and I swear it sounded like an outtake from Lateralus. Unless I'm badly mistaken, I'm not going to enjoy this new one much either.

Maynard's said in interviews that if it was up to him there wouldn't be such long gaps in between albums. The other guys in the band are absolute perfectionists and constantly writing and then scrapping new material. Hopefully this new record is a bit heavier than "10,000 Days".

Eat the Elephant was originally the new Tool album but they donated it to APC

You have to remember that they all have other bands too.. Maynard/Jones' A Perfect Circle, Carey's Volto, Jones' solo stuff & tours with The Melvins...

The gap has been way too long since Lateralus, true. But 10000 Days was another concept, and was written during the passing of Maynard's mother passing away. So it was more emotional than their previous albums. I think their new album will have the intensity of 10000 Days but with the strange feeling of Ænima

Completely aware about their other projects, was poking fun at how bad the last APC was, in my opinion.
The Melvins are active quite a lot, so I get Jones commitment, I'm sure even at one point Buzz asked him to write something new.
But despite being perfectionists, 13 years for an album is a very long time. I'm not going to pick at what makes a person creative because we all have our own processes. But 13 years, that's a long time to sit on an hours worth of music, even a double disc.
Many bands have come since 10,000 Days that have cranked out so many solid albums consecutively. I'm pegging it down to the guys, as picky as they are, not having their heart in it like they used to.
Regardless, Tool finally has a new release, I'm apprehensive but I will definitely check it out.

Not sure which I'm more excited about, hearing the new album or the "I won't believe it's out until it's in my hands and I've heard it 3 times" jokes finally disappearing. I wasn't fully wowed by Invincible and Descending when I heard them live, but I'd be surprised if I'm not won over by this; as time gone's on, 10000 days has become my favourite by them

Agreed, I couldn't even get through one listen. It sounds like a completely different band than the one that made "Mer de Noms", an album that's held up really well.
