Exodus - Entering Recording Studio In September

Yesterday, guitarist Gary Holt appeared on Marshall Amplification Instagram Live (Q&A) session, where he also pointed out that the Bay Area thrash legends Exodus will enter the studio this September to record their new full length. The latter will come out sometime in 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Huge respect for Exodus, this is great news! I'm thankful that Testament and Exodus are active and kicking ass these days, few bands know how to write and execute thrash metal properly

As far I hear this, I wanna hear more, sounds promising , somehow I have not listened much this band in the past. My best song are Toxic waltz, but this sniff, I like what I hear, i think I will keep extra eye on this, and listen soon some albums from this band.

Let's just hope they can trim the fat for the next album... Average song length over 6 minutes is just silly for plain old thrash.

Enough time to reconsider bringing Rob Dukes back and that more extreme thrash metal edge altogether

Gary is the greatest lyricist. I love how he doesn't hold back or beat around the bush when exposing the ridiculousness that is religion. I can't wait to hear what he writes for this album. It will be interesting to see if anything changes based on the fact that Gary spent all that time with Slayer.

I'm not making any sort of assumptions based on the fact of previous offerings, but this is what it has most captivated me.

what could change though? Hold is an excellent musician, have been one for long time before he joined Slayer. I imagine he's happy to create some new music with his band and bandmates.

He had to put up with Kerry King for a long while... so you never know...

Haha, I'm actually more worried about Tom Araya's God loving influence.

I don't think Tom Araya is the preachy kind of guy.

Maybe not to his bandmates but when I saw Slayer 4 years ago he preached to the crowd that God doesn't actually hate us all... he loves us. Totally killed the vibe.

What vibe was that?
I'm kinda bored by Slayer becoming predictable lyrically.
I wouldn't worry Gary was affected negatively by his Slayer experience.

What vibe was that?

It was my first time seeing Slayer and I always pit non-stop, so I was super excited to pit to Slayer especially since Gary was there. It was just my personal vibe that was deflated at that moment, however, still one of the best shows I've been to. Death Angel and Anthrax supported so it was a great thrash pit night overall.
