Insomnium - Unleash New Single

Melodic death metal masters Insomnium have unleashed a brand new single, called "The Conjurer". The song is being presented with accompanying official video, created by renowned director Vesa Ranta.

"We haven't been idle during the pandemic. "The Conjurer" is a tragic tale of jealous and searing love that opens this new chapter for Insomnium. Monumental composition by Markus Vanhala that reaches its peak in the soaring dual guitar solo. The wintry music video was shot in the dreamlike landscapes of northern Finland by director Vesa Ranta and his team. More shall follow...", says vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevänen.

I'm impressed that.... it's the first time Insomnium disappoints me. Video is cool and puts some context on the story, but the song on its own has a "pizza" effect, like they just slapped together everything they did on their last album, without any texture nor the level of emotion they usually convey. To me it feels kind of flat and a bit rushed, like Wolfheart's ''Hereditary''...

As for someone who don't really enjoyed previous release it sounds good for me. I feel this fine, nostalgic vibe.

Well, I was very disappointed after Heart Like a Grave, and this doesn't make me hope I'll get back into Insomnium at all. Such a sad in moment in my life that my favourite band ever is disappointing me so bad It totally lacks intensity.

Sadly they seem to be going more into this acoustic / gothic direction. Can't really say I dig it much. It's not bad, but it sounds just like everything off the last 2 albums.

After seeing them live (in another life) and being so disappointed by what was surely the worst gig in my life, I didn't want to hear from them anymore but Heart Like A Grave found me back in love again. I really like the album, not sure I would dare another gig though.

Yeah, I agree, they are rather disappointing live. But overall, I never had amazing experiences with MDM live anyway, I think only Dark Tranquility gave me a really strong impression live in the whole genre.

Hopefully I'll fall in love with Insomnium's new stuff eventually, but for now I'll just stick with the old stuff, that's already plenty

Don't agree, Omnium Gatherum always rock on stage! They are filled with energy and good vibes! I even attended a gig headed by Amon Amarth and only stayed for the first parts being Omnium Gatherum and the mighty Dark Tranquillity.

Ah you're right, I got a good impression from them live as well. But I somehow always saw them as warm up bands for other Finns, except for once when they unfortunately played in the venue with the worse acoustics for metal in Berlin .. Hated the show :/

I thought it was pretty nice. Definitely a softer vibe out of this one, but I'm sure there will be more intense tracks on the album. Glad to hear them still making music I enjoy listening to \m/
