That's exactly what I keep saying. I mean, Tuomas claimed that he kicked Tarja for being a money hungry diva...but in all reality, I think he's the money hungry keyboardist.

well...what about judging after hearing the new work? this is unfair just to say - w/o Tarja it is automaticaly about nothing...

Don't know exactly what to think... Anyway, great album or not, great singer or not, all this secrecy is about commercial IMO...

Wait and see. But I hope only one thing: that all this secrecy will not be vain and as high as the expectations.

I think the secrecy's quite fun. If I were Tuomas I'd be laughing... But yes, if the new singer isn't powerful enough, or the music has been changed into something commecial (WT, anyone) I will not be pleased. Also, apparently Eva is quite a light track... Are they asking for Dead Boy's Poem comparrisons :S Brave.

I dont think there is anything wrong with keeping the new vocalist a secret until the single comes out, I would rather it have hype then have no hype at all.

I have a guess, I've heard the low quality single running around on net and it seems like a voice that I know very well... But let's wait for 30th May...

if you keep the identity of the new vocalist a secret until there's a proper recording available to listen to, you can probably cut down the amount of speculation over whether they'll be good or not, if the name is announced first. it gives the listener more of a chance to take it at face value, basically.

It seems like every nightwish news is an opportunity for some people to give bad comment on them.
I think WarriorOfMetal has a good point here. Maybe they also want to keep the identity hidden for a while to give the singer a chance to have a normal life a bit longer, or to get her 'in the scene' a bit slower, cuz Nightwish is one of the best known bands in metal, and they get a lot of press attention.
As for Tuomas being a money hungry keyboard player, maybe you can explain to me why all the money of their first single goes to charity then?

Exactly - Once was a huge album, but certainly not a sellout. This band got mass-appeal because the music is both pallatable AND fucking amazing. After all the hype a charitable single is a wonderful way to come back. Plus this way I'll get to see them live again eventualy... Tuomas and his wine holster...

The more news i hear about Nightwish the more i understand what is publicity . Last few days now so whoever she is we are all must wait till that date and time . Hey some Finnish people , do that radio have a live internet connection

I completely agree with you but I think this mysterious stuff about the new vocalist is cool, everyone trying to find out who the hell she is.

Damn, talk about "peer pressure" for this new singer, with all this advertisement for their new single and such, it would suck big time if the singer turned out to be horrible.

I dont care if its a commercial reason or if its to avoid pressure, i only care that their new material will be good.

If they really were being commercial they would've stuck with RoadRunner. That's where every band goes to trade in their soul for cash.
And becuase Tarja was such a huge part of Nightwish (Tuomas even said at one point Nightwish would cease to exist without her) I think they're just keeping the new singer secret so obsessive fans won't get any negative/unfounded preconcieved notions of the *new* nightwish before they even have a chance to release new material. Which I think is a good idea considering how relentless some fans can be. Better just to wait for Eva and not be so elitist over what is a pretty trivial matter.

They must be fairly confident in their new sound, because if the people who buy this single aren't impressed, then sales of their next album will certainly be affected. And this single will probably sell like crazy. So, if they really were commercial, they would have gone about this differently (like keeping most of the money they're getting from "Eva," or all of it).

Sure, their silence about their new vocalist is ridiculous, but I don't think it's all about money.

Anyways, I listened to their new sample. That new vocalist is no Tarja, Floor, or Vibeke. No fullness or warmth at all. Actually, I found her quite nasally.

I think McDonald's is a bad analogy for this. Perhaps if I were defending cigarette companies because they donate money to charity, then McDonald's would be relevant (and I'm not saying cigarette companies are good; it's just hypothetical). Maybe if you had concentrated more on the other parts of my post, then you would have seen what I was trying to say. Nightwish could have been a hell of a lot more commercial with this, and could have gotten away with it too. Like I said, this single will sell a lot, and they could just as well have kept all of the money from it. Giving away the money to charity isn't in their best interest, and if you think that they're doing it strictly for their public image, then all I have to say is "maybe." That's why I previously stated that they must be very confident in their new sound, because if this single fails to impress, then their next album will probably sell a lot less. And I don't think that their donating to charity will help with that any, if at all.

But I don't presume to know what Nightwish are thinking. This is just the way I see this situation. For all we know, you could very well be right.

I've heard the whole song, not just this 38 seconds... and It's bad.. worst NW song so far...
The girl's voice is very good, she knows how to sing, but the song is quite boring..

well...the new song should has a little bit problem with the fact, that is too "slow and harmonic" for someone...the voice of Anette is pretty nice, but i am missing Marco, his guitar and his voice...but on the other hand i love those songs like Away, Sleeping Sun or Deep Silent Complete, that seems me quite similirar (of course not identical, but some similarities there are) to Eva's "style"...

(but this is true only if i really listened the real Eva (i have heard two other "100% real" Evas so far) - but comparing to the official sample, it is for real...)

Eva is 10 or 20 times better than I expected, that song is Heaven or very close to Heaven. There's no more that I can say.

NIGHTWISH IS NOT DEAD AND LIVING ON WITH MORE POWER.

And by the way, the voice of Anette goes even better with Tuomas' music than Tarja's.

well...i think this won't prove sooner than in some really "power" songs...i like Eva and Anette has great voice for such a ballad, but is her voice strong enough for songs like Wishmaster? we will see, but i'd wait with the final decision...
