Southern Lord Records announced the following update on Lurker Of Chalice on their website:

The debut album from Lurker of Chalice was originally released as a numbered, limited edition cd by Southern Lord. It immediately sold out and has now become a very sought after release. This re-issue features new packaging (a digi-pack) and a bonus track that was previously only available on the limited vinyl version. For those who are discovering this darkness for the first time, here are some words we wrote in regards to the original limited edition cd release:

'With Lurker of Chalice Wrest takes a nearly gothic approach to some of his vokills. Incorporating melodies and harmonies that although just as bleak as previous works, create a unique grim atmosphere that explores the subtle dynamics of darkness unlike anything hes' done in the past. The songs are all composed and solely performed by Wrest. Some of the songs are as reminiscent of: Fields Of The Nephilim (Elizium era) and Bauhaus as they are of black metal artists like: Blut Aus Nord, Emperor, or Burzum. Indeed it still reeks of Black Metal but this material drags you through new lows that are rarely reached by nowadays orthodox black metal acts.'

good news for those of us who missed it the first time around.

And bad news for those who shelled out 45 euro's for it.

But then again, I was fully aware of this coming release, at the time I bought it.

That compounds the stupidity further then, doesn't it?

I'll have you know, Nervel, that after shifting around and finding an untitled Lurker Of Chalice song in my mp3 list and re-reading this news, that I've decided it's the next album I'll purchase - it does sound bloody good, doesn't it.

Lucas - 29.03.2008 at 14:29
You should indeed, cause it's bloody awesome.

And the numbered Southern Lord version was even easier to come by than the ORIGINAL not-numbered Total Holocaust Records version which somehow got withdrawn from the market for whatever reason.

Cause Southern Lord fucked up, and printed a LOT of 777/777 copies. Really, a lot of them. Nobody cared about the THR release anymore. (which had crappy artwork, but I doubt that was a big reason)

You sure that the artwork is different? Cause I thought it was the same. But then again I can't chec since I only have the THR release

Yeah I think the Southern Lord version has the wretched face, and the THR version has this imagine. (Which the SL version has on the back).

And the wretched face is also used on the LP version and on the soon to be released digipack. At least, that's how I always thought it was.

Yers that is the outside picture, but the it also has some images and a lyric excerpt in the booklet, plus the papaer of the booklet is ribbed. And the cd itself has some sort of face on it in blue

I just checked and I also got a lyrics excerpt, you mean the 'metropolis of fog' thingie. All in all, the booklet is pretty shite, a front, a back, a vague dark picture with some scribblings in the middle and that's it.

Yes, that's the excerpt. But on the inside my booklet has 8 pages in all, with vague pictures on them.
