Lamb Of God - Still Not Welcome In Los Angeles' The Forum

As announced, Lamb Of God are supporting Metallica on some N. American dates. However, a few days ago, Metallica have posted the following report about their tour: "As you may have heard, the owners of the Los Angeles Forum have a little issue with our friends from Lamb Of God, so unfortunately they will not be joining us for the two shows at The Forum on December 17 and 18. That's the bad news... the good news is that our bros in Machine Head are rushing back to the States from Europe to step in on those two nights. And of course no show would be complete without The Sword kicking things off, so they'll be there too."

In 2005, Lamb Of God were famously banned from playing The Forum venue, owned by The Faithful Central Bible Church, because church leaders were offended by the group's previous name "Burn The Priest"... and it seems they still are!

In an April 2005 interview with U-Daily Bulletin, Lamb Of God guitarist Willie Adler stated about the Forum ban: "It is a bit of a letdown, especially since, if they (the church) had done any kind of proper research about us, they would have found that we are no way evil or satanic. It was just a name, that's all. They really had no idea who we are, and I kind of laughed at their closed-mindedness. And taking the good with the bad, by raising such a fuss, they probably turned a lot more people on to us because of it. (...) The really funny thing is, Obituary [replaced] us [on the Slipknot-headlined show on April 9, 2005 at the Forum], and their music is probably far more evil than their namesake would imply."

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times in a February 2005 interview, Marc Little, chief operating officer for The Faithful Central Bible Church's business dealings, stated about the church's decision to cancel the Lamb Of God concert: "This is a building that is owned by a church, and we are sensitive to our congregation and to our obvious religious beliefs. At the same time, we have to balance that with being a business. This is a band that was formerly known as Burn The Priest, so it's a fair assumption that some of the stuff they are singing may be antithetical to our beliefs."

With a lowercase c
Those people preach tolerance day after day. But they refuse to host a band because they don't like the name.
Anyway, funny news

what a buncha tools. lamb of god is the most unsatanic band ever. willie adler himself said that the burn the priest name was made because they had no intention of taking the band as far as to change the name.

the church sucks as always. as Willie Adler says: "kind of laughed at their closed-mindedness.". Lamb of God is not satanic but they criticise the church badly (this is a good thing as the church sucks big time, because they are close-minded).

I've never heard of an atheist run venue turning away Christian bands... please correct me if I am wrong.

Maybe not Satanic Mr. Adler, but how would you justify lyrics of songs like Vigil & Pathetic to the leader of a congregation if they HAD done their lyrics? Theres no denying some pretty obvious irreligious undertones.

Anyways, I've said it once and I will say it again: If Lamb of God owned a venue, something makes me doubt they'd host some evangellical, fundamentalist, Texas-based Gospel Singers. The door swings both ways - same goes with those times Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Behemoth, et cetera were complaining about being banned or whatnot.

I'm no fan of Lamb of God but the last time I saw them the crowd lit fires in the center of the pits, throughout the pavillion. They put on a pretty badass show too, what a shame they can't play at the forum.

What is worse, if you rape little children as a pope or let a band name with Lamb of God (what really isn´t a worse satanic band name, but whatever) go to LA?

Even if I'm an atheist and I don't think there's many reasons not to just erase all religion from the planet, I completely agree with you. If I owned a venue I wouldn't invite any religious bands, and probably no bands with extreme left winged (or nazi, or patriotic) political views/lyrics. And those bands would probably not, if they owened a venue, host any bands with opposite views.

dude christians remember everything and while they like to say that they forgive people, they dont really. Lamb of God rock and what they should do is send their music to the vatican or the head church of whatever ground owns the The Forum, that should knock them on their asses. haha

all hail Lamb Of God:bow:

(...), i've got tinnitus after seeing them support Sabbath, bastards

I'm also more than fed up with Lamb Of God after seeing them supporting Slayer last year. Though, they seemed quite popular among the crowd. Meh, count me out next time, they can have it, Lamb Of God is not my kind of thing, that's for sure.
