Iron Maiden - Flight 666 The Movie

British heavy rock legends, Iron Maiden, in association with Banger Productions, EMI Records, Universal (USA) and Arts Alliance Media, announce that they will be releasing a feature length documentary film into cinemas worldwide on April 21st 2009.

As you may know from Rod's tour diaries, Iron Maiden have been working on a feature length documentary. Entitled "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", the movie follows the band on the first leg of their Somewhere Back In Time World Tour in February and March of 2008 as they experienced the most ambitious and adventurous tour in rock history, and will be released in April 2009 in association with EMI Records and Universal in the USA.

The Maiden tour plan was something that had never been attempted before on such a grand scale. Circumnavigating the globe, the band flew in a specially customised Boeing 757 airliner with their crew and 12 tons of music and stage equipment on board, playing 23 sold out stadium and arena shows in 13 countries in just 45 days, travelling 70,000km and performing to almost half a million fans.

The band were accompanied everywhere by award-winning documentary makers Banger Productions from Toronto in Canada, who have received international critical acclaim for their previous movies "Metal, A Headbangers Journey" and recently "Global Metal". Filmmakers Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn and their team bring an intimate behind the scenes view of this remarkable journey, with a close look at the logistics involved and following Team Maiden in the cockpit, on the plane and on and offstage, getting to the heart of this global adventure of a band that has very rarely even let cameras backstage before.

Shot in High Definition and with superb 5.1 surround sound, mixed by the bands producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley, Flight 666 brings to the screen all the drama, excitement and hysteria that followed the band around the world every time "Ed Force One" touched down in a new country. The film documents the intensity of the punishing show schedules, the struggle with the time zones, the pressures of ensuring that every performance matched the energy of the many thousands of ecstatic and expectant fans from many cultural backgrounds, unusual angles from the spectacular shows... and of course the fun had on the way!.

Iron Maiden: Flight 666 is an honest and revealing portrait of one of the worlds most successful rock bands and a must-see for all Maiden fans.

A special international "Iron Maiden" day is being planned for 21st April with simultaneous showings of "Iron Maiden: Flight 666" in selected Digital cinemas around the world - we will of course bring you more information on this nearer the time.

Maybe it is another movie or DVD but seems like one of the most ambitious documentaries that Maiden has ever done. Anyway, interesting, I'll be waiting to see this, I'll be on the first row at the cinema! jejeje

This is the time for a fancy looking dollar emoticon$

There is a time when some people should just call it quits. If it's for the fans, it's at least a bit respectable, but I doubt that.

Damn, I couldn't agree more! Maiden are so incredibly overrated currently. And so pathetic and ridiculous with all those compilations, lives and DVDs one after the other.

I will never try to deny their place and importance in history and I think all their albums from "The Number Of The Beast" to "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son" (incl) are masterpieces I still enjoy today, but this band should have called it quits long ago. Everything they have done after SSOASS is sub-par, when not just plain shitty, anyway. The band was awesome during the 80s and looked as they could not go wrong. Unfortunately, they failed to evolve, lost their complexity and raw power. There's nothing awesome to expect from this band since years and years...and years.

They live so much on their past. A title like "Flight 666", with "Aces High" playing in the background for the promotional video. How can you be more predictable?

The blu ray is fantastic ! And the people who says they are history, aren't been to a concert of Iron Maiden lately. The energy is still exploding from the stage, still the same as in the eightys. Yes I'm old, but I'm lucky that I could follow them since 1984.

Maiden are officially the greatest metal band on the earth, they are bigger than metallica, gnr, ac dc, rolling stones and perhaps even god....according to Metal Hammer UK

They selling out stadiums in places other "BIG" bands cant even imagine, like India, Peru, Columbia, Chile, Mexico apart from The rest of South/Central America and whole fucking Europe. 2 million people in 90 dates, that's bigger than the 80s.

As I went shopping to refresh my CD collection I had high hopes of buying , again, Powerslave and/or Piece of Mind and/or # of the Beast to feed my hunger to hear Iron Maiden. As I beheld this DVD at the store I realized it had EVERY SONG I had hoped to hear and not to mention it was a live concert recording. BEST PURCHASE I'VE MADE IN A DECADE! I couldn't believe how awesome Dickinson's voice sounded, and how true to form every song was performed. Sound quality!!>?? WOW totally great. I watched (and played guitar along with...) "Heaven Can Wait", "Rime.." , "Powerslave" over and over and it was like a piece of heaven. Nicko's drum work on this is not to be believed!!! Fantastic video , worth every penny and then some.... honest.
