DragonForce is WAY more popular in the US with all the kids. That's the reason they're headlining.

Yeah and this is GREAT for those kids and Sonata.
They will run home and grab 'Black Sheep' and '8th Commandment' etc from itunes.
Perhaps even get an education
Got Mayhem? - 16.06.2009 at 17:54
Hm
you would think DF would tour as little as possible. On account of..you know, Not being able to play their own music.
Ozman - 16.06.2009 at 18:01
Of course DragonFArce is the headliner. If you don't understand why then it is obvious you people have no idea how the music industry works. In 99% of the cases the band that sells most is the headliner. And seeing that DragonFart outsells Sonata Farce-ica easily it is only normal that Drag-on-Force is the headliner.

I'm all for great metal bands touring with shitty metal bands that are popular (despite their obvious lack of talent) because it exposes kids to better metal.

All too obvious Marcel.
We're just joking about the irony of this particular tour.
It would be like Shape Of Despair as support for STS. One is relatively unknown, the other makes it into the Finnish charts. A joke, but yes, that is the way the music industry works!
Italics - 16.06.2009 at 19:28
So is Sonata Arctica in all of these concerts... or just some? Ticketmaster only has them listed for a few, and doesn't even list some of these shows...

Thanks for explaining the obvious.

Oh, and your post lost all credibility when you said "Sonata Farce-ica."

At least now I know that the next time I see "Marcel H" I can pretty much skip over the post.

Dear, oh dear, oh dear Marcel my friend, are we going to clash again, i'll give you the DragonFarce hit, but not Sonata Arctica, can't let you have that one. I know their last album was "different", but live they are brilliant.
Black Conundrum - 16.06.2009 at 21:15
Yeah, it did somewhat surprise me that Sonata Arctica is opening for DragonForce. But I guess it makes sense that it is arranged that way. In my honest opinion, music wise, Sonata Arctica is better than DragonForce. That's just my thoughts though.

Actually I can stomach a couple of old Sonata songs and find the band infinitely better than Stratovarius et al but the band has turned into a farce musically imo.

I went to see Cynic this year opening for DragonForce (which I have never heard before), and I stayed to see DF to see what they were about. On stage did did nothing else thatn do stupid jokes about fucking themselves and farting and all that crap, and they jumped all the time as if they had taken something. Even though the soloing sounded good, I can't explain how they played all that live while jumping.

"Stimulus Package." PSH!
Yeah nothing spells "economic recovery" like loads of pork, social programs, and providing jobs that are temporary.

Tell me... how does training people in third-world countries on how to perform abortions improve the American economy?
Italics - 18.06.2009 at 12:05
Sonata Arctica will also be HEADLINING some shows in North America... dates are yet to be announced.

So for hardcore SA fans out there... wait a couple weeks before you go out and buy those Dragonforce tickets! (Unless, of course, you are also a diehard Dragonforce fan)

I have no idea. Plus it is irrelevant to this thread. I was not trying to make a political statement at all with my comment, just a joke.
Ag Fox - 18.06.2009 at 18:49
Funny jokes by kaos666 and Dane Train lol
really... the stimulus package works like this:
1) massive tour featuring Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax and they are only playing their best material from the 80's.
2) jobs are created for the tour = increase in employment rate
3) ppl all over American going crazy
4) ppl all over the world go crazy too and flood to America to watch those shows
5) great for the tourism industry
6) Americans themselves also go to these gigs in masses
7) after gig = go out to bars and drink or go party (benefiting local economy, then you get the multiplier effect and blah blah blah)
8) increase in consumer spending
9) GDP increase because of that
10) current account more positive as well probably
11) i.e. perfect stimulus package
Xnoybis - 20.06.2009 at 01:28
(revisits this thread and is happy to see Obama/Porkulus being mocked and ridiculed.)

Frankly, i'd be cool if we took Dragonforce, Obama, and SA, dumped them in Canberra, and left them there.
Janne - 21.06.2009 at 21:22
That would be so fucking good to have the same tour in Europe!!!
