I just discovered this one album band from Germany, Finsterforst (means Dark Forest), and even though it's not the best band ever and that, fans of the genre may want to check their debut, Weltenkraft. They play Folk/Black, very similar to Windir in sound, specially vocals, and Equilibrium in spirit, with its happy feeling and melodies, excelent for partying and drinking.

What makes them unique is that among the folk elements there is an accordion, which they use almost always. Add to that some progressive elements (they even have some very long songs) and a special guest from Eluveitie, and you have a winner.

Of course, they have some bad things, like being too long (almost 80 minutes can be difficult to digest) and that the vocals are almost always the same, combined to the fact that it's so long, it may bore some people. Still, a band that you may want to check.

"Weltenkraft" is good, but a little drawn out. I felt like it could have shortened by about 10 minutes.

I have Weltenkraft, I used to be very excited about it when I first got it, but it soon dimished. the album is to long especailly since the songs rarely change from feeling and the screams are very repetive.

The problem it's not their length, but that the actual music there isn't enough diverse to be heard at once. If they did, let's say, a 45 +/- minutes album and saved some material for the next one, it could have been MUCH better.

Oh, and using diferent vocals around there, just in some songs, could have helped a lot. Hope they realise these and get a better album, because they are quite promising.

Yeah, they sound great at first but that declines a bit. The vocals are also a bit monotonous, and that bores me quickly.

Sound like Windir? Hardly... Windir had much more black metal elements then Finsterforst, and FF is much more folky then Windir. I truely miss Windir, but in the same I really do like FF and thier three albums are great! My point here... not like Windir.

The band sounds a combination between Moonsorrow and Finntroll. Pretty good music but all the songs sounds the same too me...

I got Urwerk a week or so ago (their first EP + Weltenkraft) and so far I think it's one of the greatest musical discoveries i've ever made! They sound like a more folky Equilibrium, with less synths and a heavy accordion (?). The last 3 songs were a bit monotonous but there are some great tracks - especially Lauf der Welt, Des Waldes Macht, and Schatten der Nacht.
