Hellish Star

Hello, what are, in your opinion the best NEW vocalists (maximum 10 years in the scène)? Don't mention Dickinson, Halford, King Diamond or whoever, they're too long in our scène and there are topics enough about them. I want you to mention the new generation!

My list

Chuck Williams (Six Minute Century)
Kelly Carpenter (ex Outworld, ex Beyond Twilight)
Rick Black (A TORTURED SOUL)
Matthew Bizilia (Icarus Witch)
Freddy Ferrell (Brutal Hand)
Michael Grant (Onward, Crescent Shield, Cypher Seer)
George Call (Aska, Omen)
Bill Jannush (Ravensthorn)
Greg Wagner ( Shatter Messiah, Archetype)
Carlos Zema (Vougan)
Sean Peck (Cage)

I suppose I forget a few

Please, add name of the singer + his/her bands

Hm.
I'd have to say Jonny Davy and Trevor Strnad are two of the best new generation metal vocalists I've heard so far.
Jonny is very diverse and pulls off all his styles extremely well.
Trevor has some of the best highs and lows I've ever heard.

Jari Mäenpää (Ensiferum, Wintersun) is the best and most versatile vocalist Ive ever heard. He goes from harsh vocals, to power metal vocals, to deep vocals in the same song and hes good at all of them. I also think Andreas "Vintersorg" Hedlund is pretty amazing.

you think Jari is versatile? I'm a fan of the band but he really only has one growl style and transitioning to clean from harsh vocals isn't that hard. many bands do it.

As far as the new Generation goes I really don't know that many. maybe Joe Duplantier of Gojira. His vocals are just very unique and I haven't really heard any vocals like it....

Ya, I know they started in 96 but they still belong in the last ten years because they didn't make a full length album til 2001

Jari's so versatile! Ive heard everything he ever released and hes grown so much as a singer. IMHO both his growls and clean volcs have a ton of varietty.

Good call, heres my list:

Cam Pipes (3 Inches Of Blood)
I have a love for classic metal, this guy would have fit in with so many NWOBHM bands...

Warlord Nygard (Turisas)
Has quite a good range of styles, very skilled.

Thebon (Keep Of Kalessin)
I think Im one of the few people who enjoyed his work on Kolossus.

Matt Pike (High On Fire)
His vocals just sound so painful, they also fit the music perfectly.

I like Hernan Hermida from All Shall Perish.

Also, Athera from Susperia is has a good range, but I think it may be a little on the fat side of 10 years for him.

Hey HS, I have to second these two especially Michael Grant. Wow, what power and intensity.

If you like powerful clean vocals and you haven't check out Crescent Shield, you owe to yourself to give them a listen.

Am I the only one to mention Matt Heafy (Trivium)?
The vocals on Shogun are incredible!
Slipknot / Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor is amazong as well, I love the diversity and the great emotion in his songs.
And don't forget Lamb Of God's Randy Blythe, that guy knows how to make great noise!

I haven't listened to quite a lot of newer metal(especially bands that formed since 98-99) but Jari Maenpaa imo deserves at least to be mentioned here, i think Wintersun is overrated but the first 2 Ensiferum albums are FUCKIN AWESOME and the vocals add to the impossible epicness of it all.
