of all the masterpieces within the metal genre, there are songs that would be perfect funeral songs. for me i would pick "Beyond the Realms of Death" by Judas Priest and Fagning by Windir are the two metal songs i would have played at my funeral. 1184 probably too. yeah, what about you guys? what would you want at your funeral?

EDIT: CHANGED MY MIND i want arntor played too.

I've thought about this a couple of times and I keep on coming to the same conclusion: Apocalyptica's "Farewell". It's a very touching song and somehow it always brings the sadness up, even though it's an instrumental. Usually funerals are events, where there are no words to describe the loss, so I'd prefer an instrumental.

Well, since this song will be put at my funeral, while at my funeral I won't be able to hear a damn thing
I'll be no more taking care about any...
but if it is a last chance to put some kind of message and identity to those who will attend that bullshit... I would certainly choose Death's "Zero Tolerance"... and that is serious...

oh come on, if your friends and family were going to mourn your existence wouldnt you want them to hear a song that personified your entire existence, rather than some lame ass generic funeral music?

"Scene Nine: Finally Free" by Dream Theater is a pretty awesome funeral song, same goes for "Scene Eight: The Spirit Carries on". My dad want me to spread his ashes in the ocean, I will probably play Nightwish's "Ocean Soul" then. Devil Doll's "Sacrilegium" would also be pretty good for my funeral.

Mostly doom metal.. Specialy Funeral Doom.

Bands like Shape of Dispair will make the whole public commit suicide.
"Angels of Distress" would be the best song...

Solitude Aeturnus - It Came Upon One Night

Katatonia - In Silence Enshrined

For starters. Just to get the mood right. Then I'd finish with:

Edge of Sanity - Crimson

Boy would that be a long funeral.

"Buried By The Dead" by Bloodbath, but Id make sure someone pinned my eyes open and lock my jaw in a wide open position, then have some spring action in my coffin, so as they are trying to mourn me, BAM! I pop up and scare the livin' bejesus out of them.
