Vanden Plas' Beyond Daylight album is a gem! I also recommend it for this topic. All songs are 10/10 but the very best would be: Scaarlet Flower Fields, Healing Tree and the amazing title-track (fantastic vocal melodies there!!)

Therion - Via Nocturna
This is the chunkiest most catchy riff i have ever heard, i think its like 1 or 2 mins in.

King Diamond - A Mansion In Darkness
It has to be one of the most amazing opening riffs ever.

Dungeon - A Rise To Power
Their best song with another one of my fav riffs.

If just melodic /catchy riffs are enough then whyu don't you listen to Amon Amarth? They relly have catchy music, however no clean vocals. They are melodic Death metal.

This is probably way out of left field, and am not really sure how heavy you're wanting; but check out Alkaline Trio's 'Crimson'.

This, in my opinion was the album of 2005. Not overly heavy, but just catchy as all f*&k.

See if you can download the track 'Burn' (track #3) off this album just for a taste.

Megadeth: "Tornado of Souls" and "Hanagr 18", very catchy and clean oldschool thrash, with plenty of catchyness in the writing as well as tonnes of melody, for all those familiar to their better/older era... I'd be very surprised if they weren't mentioned yet... definitely worth checking out if you haven't as of yet.

Thank You, I will take that as a special compliment coming from some one who excellent musical knowledge as yourself....I was hoping to bring a list of songs that would not be listed standardly by others and maybe to open some doors to different styles that hasn't been mentioned before.

Like cursed said - Hammerfall's "Hearts on Fire" is possibly the catchiest song. Ever.

But try "Hammer of Justice" and "The Fire Burns Forever" from the same band. Also:

"If I Could Fly" - Heloween
"When the Lights are Down", "Wander", "Karma" - Kamelot
"The Winter Wake" and "Neverending Nights" - Elvenking
"Crimson King", "Winter of Souls" - Demons and Wizards
"Metal Tyrant" - Seven Witches
"The Bane of Daninsky" - Dark Moor

...and remember - "Hearts on Fire" from Hammerfall!
