Hey guys,

Just thought I'd create a thread so we can clearly see everyone's reaction to Metallica's new album!
Please give a reason for your answer, - let's keep this thread intelligent.

When I first heard Cyanide and The Day That Never Comes, I thought something along the lines of "wtf". Then I bought the album and listened to the entire thing in the car on my way to work.
IMO this album is good in its entirety, I enjoyed listening to the entire album, it would seem that the songs sound better in the context of the entire album, rather than by themselves.

In future (if they make another album) I would like to see some more aggressive vocal work from James, an updated knowledge of drum techniques and solos from Lars, perhaps a solo from Rob and a few solos that have actual FEELING from Kirk.

As I said, in its entirety this album makes for a good listen, so I give it the thumbs up.
I think that if Metallica create another album, it will be better. I see this album as a milestone towards their old metal-selves.

I think its a decent album, there are some pretty good solos. Definatly better than some of their earlier (and more recent) work.

This album is just meh, the mix is bad you try to turn up the music on your stereo or listen to it on headphones and you hit a wall of static or whatever you want to call it.
it sounds to me like metallica had some black album sounding material lying around and said to satisfy the people bitching about wanting metallica to do thrash decided to throw some half assed thrash parts into the songs. i mean was that whole ending part of the day that never comes necessary? dm was one of the few albums that got worse and worse everytime i listened to it. james voice is just so fucking annoying and weak lars drumming is too loud and too boring and kirk what is up with his solos oh wait this is the same guy that thought solos were "trendy"

metallica just please give up

Yep, I like it. It is quite flawed, especially in terms of production, and the arrangement in certain songs, although as a whole, there's more to enjoy than there is to dislike. It's quite a way off in terms of quality compared to the first 4 albums, but it's a good album with ocassional flashes of their old brilliance.

Well "earlier work" brings 80's to mind honestly.

And their 80's stuff (obviously) fucks the shit out of Death Magnetic

I found it hard to listen to its in entirety, dragged a bit often for my liking, and lacked passion. One or two songs I could bare, so I certainly didn't hate it, and I have hopes (not gonna say ''high hopes'') for the next studio album.

I thought he was saying DM is as good as their 80s album; I see red when I read/hear such statements.
